I would have loved to get the sub, but it was to late by the time I tried to sign up.

So, as can be seen by the front page, Mattel has unveiled DCU Wave 3 (with the exception of the Joker). What does everyone think so far?
Superman will be a pass for me, but Aquaman and Darkseid are two figures I was excited about when the line was announced late last week. So, I am looking forward to those two, Joker still remains to be seen. I am however, surprised Aquaman didn't come with the necklace he wears in Justice Leage: Origins, but not a BIG deal... |

Why? Becuase they either did not want to deal with Digital River? Or did not want to trust Mattel? I'm sorry, but the way Mattel has been acting, they will be lucky if I subscribe to anything next year.

Not to mention I thought Identity Crisis sucked. To me, it would be like putting on Barry Allen's bio that he ran himself to death in 1985. A significant event both for Allen and the DCU, but not something I'd use as an introduction to the character, which is what I would want to see on a bio. Personality + powers/abilities = perfect bio. Character history is better left to themed versions of figures (like that Crisis version of Barry). At least with Wayne's parents, it's an integral part of Bruce's origin story. Same thing with mentioning in Clark Kent's bio that Krypton blew up. We don't really care what other sites do about it. It's not allowed here, plain and simple. If anyone wants to know more, feel free to PM me.

An eBay sell has a prototype of the new 52 Darkseid. It is a pass for me I'll stick with my DCSH and CNC Darkseids I do wish they would have used this DKR/Darkseid buck for Lead though.

Totally agree with you on the various Darkseids. Among the DSCH, Cnc, and n52 figs, this new one is a distant third. The DC Direct version of the same character is really cool, but why the heck is it so big? |

Hardly come across many sites that don't allow it. Never understood the anti-hotlink thing anyway. If a site doesn't want people to hotlink their images so they can save some bandwidth there are easy ways a site can block hotlinking of images. I would think sites get traffic from people following the image back to the source. Meh.

While Sue's murder is a defining moment in Ralph's history (and arguably the DCU's), it's not something I would have put in his bio on his first DCUC-style figure. I would have stuck with just his origin story and his powers. Save the other tidbits for another version down the line.

Personality + powers/abilities = perfect bio. Character history is better left to themed versions of figures (like that Crisis version of Barry). Maybe the difference is that we will get 20 Barry figures so they don't feel the need with him being well known. What are the odds that they make more figures of Ralph? Perhaps they figured it was needed here.

Back on topic, Identity Crisis did not suck. It was well written, well plotted, had a mystery going on within it, etc.

Cain they basically said that we would have gotten Fully Tooled lines. As for Mattel and you comments we all know unless they show Ras, Talia, Mad Hatter, Calander Man, Ambush Bug, and Obscure man you'll probably not sign up. Am I disappointed by the Line up a Little I was hoping for an Oversized Doomsday or Killer Croc or both but I am not going to complain about what I don't have. I look at like "I'm getting Larfleeze, Red Hood, CMIII, Huntress, and Fire and who knows who else
As for Barry Running himself to death we all know he sacrificed himself to save the world. I got my Elongated Man. I am a little Disappointed of the three out so far this yeah he sits a t the position of Worst he looks like a complete Remake of Plasticman the Hair for one thing I have a poster of Justice League #60 that style would be better and the color is more blonde then Red. The next thing is they made Mekanneck for MOTUC and the Bendy parts for several figures why not at least do a neck extender like that honestly a B- to C+ would be a good grade

I got my Elongated Man yesterday. He is pretty cool, but seriously, I don't get Mattel. This figure should have easily had double jointed knees and elbows. Not to mention they should have made it so you can share parts with Plastic Man, especially in the neck.

If the images are mirrored, at least that provides a link (and credit) to the site that originally hosted them. And then it's up to the user whether to check out the other site or not. Quote:

I guess my problem is that they are very specific events that revolve around a much larger story and while it does inform you of the characters' history somewhat, you don't get any real sense of the characters themselves. I think the bios should be geared more towards casual fans, or people who don't already know the character.

Remember on the Red Arrow bio it says "He and Green Arrow had a falling out." More like Green Arrow caught Roy Shooting up Heroine and tossed him out clearly you cannot put that on the Back of a toy. For Elongated Man you want it to say "Dr. Light Raped Sue then she was killed over the phone." I can understand mentioning it but Ralph Dibney is not a very well known character he can easily be confused with Plastic Man or even Mr. Fantastic at the other Company.
Kain this will be the first time I agree 100% with you and those pictures are great.

Review time! Monsieur Mallah and The Brain!
Packaging: A+ The packaging, like any subscription figure in a open window packaging.Very nice and has the bio on the back of the packaging Articulation: C- The reason for this score is that, 1) Mallah has no articulation on his legs, or chest. 2) The Brain has no articulation at all. So, this is my judgement, but I want to know what you feel about this figure. Appearance: B+ The figure, honestly, looks great. His entire body is sculpted very nicely, and The Brain looks very cool. One minor complaint, very small, is that, the Brain looks nothing like the packaging. Paint: B+ The paint, on my figure is good, although I don't know about the rest of yours, no paint smudges, or mistakes Final Judgement: B+ The figures are very nice, although they could use more articulation. |

We knew Mallah's articulation would be the same as Grodd's. And how would there be any articulation for Brain at all? My only complaint is how the rifle cannot even stay in Mallah's hands that well.
As for the artwork, they have been pieces of crap since the sub started last year. I mean, they showed Black Mask with a gun even though he did not come with one. The artwork on Saint Walker was down right dreadful and did not even look like him.

Read my review on Mallah and Larfleeze.
Kain I finally got Plasticman and yes you can interchange the Paddleball and Flyswatter with Elongated Man but they do not look right

Finally saw Hawkman over the weekend. Looks pretty good in package but since I don't collect this line anymore, he stayed on the peg.

Probably because EM wears gloves and PM does not so the hands are silly putty/flesh tone instead of dark blue. EM really was a missed opportunity. Few people were pining for a magnifying glass.

I still want to know why they chose red over his classic purple costume.

I think they went for what costume he is most noted for honestly I think so far since December they missed chance to be great (except Phantom Stranger) for making the figures great Platinum could have used an attachment (how hard would it have been to make a Sword and shield like Katma Tui?) Saint Walker could have used something, and Larfleeze should have had Glommy construct.
I picked up Savage Hawkman he was the only New 52 character I picked up.
