Nah, didn't make it out there this year.
I am so glad we're getting another chance at Batgirl, I really REALLY wanted the 2-pack with DCSH Azrael, but no way in Hell I am paying those crazy eBay prices, so I guess this is my chance to get my hands on a Barbara Gordon Batgirl finally.

Got another nice shot from WonderCon 2011, thanks to our friends over at DCUC.info, which shows off Wave 18 Captain Boomerang & Bronze Tiger as well as Batman Legacy Dick Sprag Batman and the new Joker, featuring a design and head sculpt which again resembles the Clown Prince of Crime's Golden Age Brave and the Bold appearance!
Enjoy! Thanks to DCUC.info for the attached shot! And, DC Fans can also check out Sean Long's WonderCon 2011 video which shows off what we can expect in the Batman Legacy line coming in Fall 2011! YouTube - SEANxLONG's Channel |

Azrael was a tough find even on a single card. Who knows maybe we'll see that figure again. It seems like they're reissuing almost everything.

The Fwoosh recently conducted its latest Ask Matty Q&A session and they had some interesting things to say regarding our favourite DCUC brand!
Q: When will you be unveiling the next wave of DCUC figures? Last year, series 15 was debuted in May, can we expect the same this year for series 19? A: Likely at SDCC if not before hand. Q: When is DCUC 17 scheduled to hit store shelves? Seems like forever since 16 was released. A: There are no release dates for retail product (unlike Mattycollector.com). New retail product ships the faster current retail product sells through and stores re-order. Thoughts? |

Like they said, the stores that have burned through their initial stock of Wave 1 DCUGL series and Wave 16 (and older) and/or All Star DCUC figs have probably replenished their stock, but if there isn't room on the pegs due to poor sales, these Wave 17 figs might not make the rounds for wide distribution. Most of the stores I visit are just now stocking Wave 2 DCUGL figures (Sodam Yat, Skallox/Nite Lik, Medphyll/Nautkeloi, etc.), and some of them are still flooded with Wave 1 DCU figures, especially Manhunter. Outside of eBay, Wave 17 should start showing up en masse over the next 4-8 weeks as Wave 1 & 2 DCUGL stock dwindles. At least hopefully, right? |

I haven't personally seen Wave 17, but isn't this wave already readily available in Blackest Night packaging? I have seen all of this wave on eBay for more than two months except for the white & black Hal figures.

Online retailers, like BBTS are far truer indicators of what's about to hit shelves. And the Blackest Night wave hasn't hit them yet.

I heard June also for Wave #17.
Only getting the Scarecrow from that line though. Will probably end up getting the entire 18th Wave though, all those characters are awesome and I must have them in my DCUC collection as well. |

Also, going hand in hand with this news, The Pop Culture Network has a review of these cases, meant to fit the figures released in the DCUC line! NOTE: These will NOT fit the GLC figures! Yes. But Matty's been out of stock since cybermonday (Was going to buy them, but the stupid site glitched out, and they were sold out when it finally stablized, 3 days later). With no sign of them ever making more.

For those who've yet to hear the news, this years SDCC 2011 DCUC Exclusive is Swamp Thing! That's right! This fan demand figure will soon be available at a price of $30 both at this year's SDCC and on MattyCollector.com!
Featuring endoskeletal articulation (the first of its kind), Swamp Thing comes packaged in a paper pulp mold of a Swamp Thing head and houses Swamp Thing himself! No ordinary packaging can contain Swamp Thing, so he’ll be packed in a shipper box with the Swamp Thing head peering out. Mark your calenders as July 15th is when the figure will be available for order on MattyCollector's website! Enjoy the attached photos of this awesome looking addition to the DCUC line and thanks to Action Figure Insider for all the juicy info! |

I worry about what kind of material they used for the outer layer on Swampy, and that it might disintegrate over time like a lot of rubber accessories/parts have done on other figures.
And the endoskeletal may be a new take on the idea, but it's certainly not the first. Japan did it a while ago (I think it was either SiC or Figurarts). Beyond those two complaints/concerns, this is a really cool exclusive and I like the packaging. Very true to the character.

A small update regarding SDCC 2011 DCUC Swamp Thing from MattyCollector arrived today: If you purchase Swamp Thing at this year's SDCC, you'll also get bonus figures of Un-Men Ophidian and Cranius that will not be available unless purchased at the show.
Thanks Matty! |
