Today, Rebelscum.com has a nice look at two figures from the Star Wars: Movie Heroes subline - Queen Amidala & Anakin Skywalker.
Neither has had an update since 1999. Amidala's costume is much more detailed this time around. Save for the ball jointed head and elbows, this figure actually matches the articulation of the original figure, but it's still a pretty good piece. The head sculpt could've used a little more tweeking though. Accessories include her screen accurate ascension gun and grappling hook backpack. Anakin, once again, leaves me disappointed and that's not just because I am not a fan of the little twerp. The articulation is straight out of 1999, he seems smaller than the average Ani figure and what is with that weird jet-pack? Sorry Hasbro, didn't see anything like that when I watched The Phantom Menace. The helmet is nice and fits well and the head sculpt looks pretty close to Jake Lloyd though, so I suppose it's not all bad. All in all, nothing amazing from these two. If I had to pick one, I'd stick with Padme, the outfit is detailed and the accessories are screen accurate and, like Rebelscum says, the figure isn't all that bad. Ah well, to each his own. Enjoy! |

I went to a local Wal-Mart on Thursday and wow did they have A LOT (like half the isle) of Star Wars stuff on clearance. I picked up the ROTJ vintage four pack (don't know what it's really called) for $12 and a vintage Stormtrooper for $4. Happy day most indeededly. The Han and Luke from the four pack are really good imo. First really good Han figure I've ever had. I'm definitely going to be heading up there again soon.

Total bummer. I kind of stumbled on to it by accident. I went in looking for Avengers stuff to no avail and as I go to leave see a little bit of clearance stuff a little ways away but nothing good. Then I walk down the next isle and BAM! all kinds of SW goodness at pretty cheap prices. Lots of it was Clone Wars stuff for like 3 bucks a pop with some of the older vintage stuff sprinkled in (mainly the ROTS wave).

I may have to get that Anakin for his cool jetpack- give it to an AIM guy or a Kree custom.
Am I the only one here that sometimes buys figs for the stuff they come with? Blast effects or weapons or whatever? |

Yeah...I've been saying that Hasbro should release an all blasts effects set- it would work for all their big toy lines.
Star Wars, GI Joe Marvel Universe Hell most of it would work for Marvel Legends too! |

Lotta crossover appeal for that stuff- I'm hoping one of the guys that cast custom parts will start making effects in clear resin for sale- then we colud color it with Tamiya clear colors....even thinned out dyes for psychedellic magic effects.

Hell if Halo stuff can get just armor and weapon packs for the price of a regular figure then blast effects packs from Hasbro should be a possibility.

Pricewise, it's all about which line they'd use to sell it- liscensing seems to me the major factor in how much crazy extras we get with a fig...Joes come with the most awesome swag, which supports this theory.

Rebelsum.com has a look a two more Movie Heroes Star Wars figures today, the bumbling Gungan Jar Jar Binks and the horned Sith apprentice, Darth Maul.
Neither of these figures is all that great. Jar Jar looks good, but he doesn't stand well. He comes with an oversized bowcaster and boomer projectile. Maul only seems to like one pose and has that annoying 'leg-squeezing' action feature. He comes with his double-bladed lightsaber. To sum these two up, pass on them in favor of the Vintage Collection versions and leave these two on the pegs for the kids. Enjoy! |

Continuing their in-depth look at the newly released Star Wars: Movie Heroes figures, Rebelscum brings us reviews on Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn. Both feature light-up lightsabers, which function by means of a pressure button on the figure's belt. The saber arms feature no articulation as they house lighting and wires and the figures are just slightly out of scale. The head sculpts are superb however and the costumes, for the most part, are screen accurate. Although these figures are neat, in my opinion, stick with the Vintage Collection versions of these prequel Jedi Knights.
Enjoy! |

I was very surprised at the improved head sculpts . As reluctant as I am to buy more jedis, I may get these 2.

Cool Man , I seriously never saw Savage Opress in the store. I was looking for one for you. If I didn't get him at Christmas , I wouldn't have one at all.
I am glad you picked the new Ghost Rider too, he looks amazing. |

Check out our first look at the Duel on Naboo and Bespin Battle multipacks. These were originally supposed to be shown at Toy Fair, but were missing.
Thanks to POTF2.com! Enjoy! |

The lack of articulation kill those for me. Before clicking on the pic I was all for the Bespin pack.

Ugh...I don't understand why Hasbro would even waste the plastic it took to make those figures. I'm sure it may cost more to produce figures on par with Vintage Collection figures but it seems to me doing that would save more money than making these substandard figures that will most likely end up on clearance or just thrown out of retailers.
