I've always been a console gamer, but I didn't want to buy the PS3 just for one game, so I'm resorting to playing it on my computer. My question is..
Is there a giant difference in quality between, let's say.. a Logitech $25 controller and the "brand name" (Microsoft's 360 for PC controller; for example) $60 controllers? I'm usually of the mind that "you get what you pay for," but I've used many Logitech products in the past and haven't had any issues, so it seems like a no-brainer. After reading a few reviews on cheaper controllers, it seems like there's a pretty even mix of "it's great!" and "it stopped working after two weeks!" Knowing how I am, I'll probably be sick of this game and never play a game on PC again in about a month, but you never know. I also take very good care of my things, and you never know what the negative reviewers do with their things to know if the product sucks or they're just idiots. So, anyone out there have any feedback for me? Is spending $40 more dollars on a "name brand" controller really worth it?

I know there was a program you can download that can work with PS3 controllers since it's USB enabled. I don't have the link but I remember playing portal on my PC using the PS3 controller.

Also, I bet the guy at the video game store has an opinion on the topic.

If you ask him, he'll answer your question for you.

Well, it's not a question that really has an answer.. is it?
I'd say that he might be able to give me his opinion, or feedback from his own personal experiences, which I've already done.. So what does one man's opinion have to do with a thread asking for more opinions or feedback?

His opinion is an amalgam of all of the opinions of his customers as well as his own, so its knd of like; going to the source. Think of it like this, if you were hungry for tuna, would you drop a line in the water and hope that a tune would bite, or would you go to the fish market and buy some?

That one man works at a video game store, and sells video game controllers for a living, he's kind of like an expert on the subject.

Is this not a toy/comic (translation: geek site) forum site? Why not ask around here, if not to maybe get a little more insight from some people around here that might have experience in this area, then just for the sake of discussion? What you just said about going to Mr. Amalgam Opinion, rather than asking here in a thread, would be like me telling you to go outside and talk to people in person as opposed to the internet all day long. "They're real people who you can see & hear, and can have real conversations." In other words, doing one of those things doesn't make the other irrelevant. ..and how is the site going?

Yeah, you can get an adapter, it'll have force feedback and you can make use of your current controller. However, I can vouche for the Logitech stuff. I currently use one for DC Universe Online that follows the PS2/PS3 configuration and it works great for me.

I went ahead and got the cheaper Logitech last night (looks like a 360 controller), and got the "Best Buy 2 yr replacement plan," which brought me to only $30 total as opposed to the Microsoft versions that were $60. thechris, DCUO is what this is all about... unfortunately since I signed up the other day I've only been able to get in for about ten minutes because their servers keep crashing.
