Yea whose head is that lol. Would be nice if they included an actual dr. doom head, but at the same time I guess it wouldn't matter since the body is still iron man armor, and hopefully in the NEAR future we can get a real classic dr. doom.

It’s Victor’s head. At the end of Secret Wars, his face was healed. He retained his appearance through the Infamous Iron Man run.

Meh. Easily the most lackluster Walgreens exclusive since Ant-Man.

Sorry, but Victor Von Doom doesn't look like a super model. His scarred face is kind of the point of his character.

I get that some people aren't excited by it, but this is the first Walgreens ML figure I'm getting since Thing.

He did before he became disfigured. Then it was restored in Secret Wars. Then he became the Infamous Iron Man. It's character progression (and then subsequently regression). Comics do this sort of thing all the time and it was interesting to explore for the short amount of time that it occurred.

Meanwhile we're all still waiting for a real Dr. Doom figure. Hopefully within the next year or so. It's one of the few remaining figures on my Marvel Legends wishlist now.

you put out the version people didn't want first. because it will get purchased until the actual wanted version i released. If they released the one we wanted first... even less people would this ....version.

His vanity and arrogance is the point of his character. He once was a handsome fella but he argued with Reed over the specs of an experiment during college in which he was the wrong one, but his vanity wouldn't let him be wrong so he did it anyway with the wrong calculations which resulted in an explosion that "horribly disfigured him". The horrible disfigurement was actually a small scar on his cheek but he was so conceited he started hiding his now slightly flawed face behind a mask and blamed Richards for the explosion. And later on due to his impatience and arrogance when he forced a group of monks to forge him a new metal mask/helmet,he grabbed it before it was cooled off and put it on his face which is when his face became hamburger helper. Him and green goblin are my favorite villains ever which is probably the only reason I'd care to comment. Now personally I would like a scarred face but only when it's classic Doom not his more recent iteration as Mr. Perfect.

Oh, Dusty. In-famous is when you're MORE than famous. This man Victor, he's not just famous, he's IN-famous.

I'm not sure what everyone is complaining about. First of all, I dig the Infamous Iron Man figure. Second, Hasbro already released a proper Doom figure back in the day, and in my opinion it still holds up pretty damn well. Of course, I wouldn't complain if Hasbro took another crack at a classic Doom in the very near future (with the run Hasbro is having lately I can only imagine how awesome it would be), but until they do this one is just fine.

They drastically change the status quos and origins of characters like regular people change socks so I don't see what the big deal is about Dr. Doom having his face healed for one story arc. Crazier things have happened.

Sorry, I disagree. I own that Doom figure and he is utter shit. His articulation is extremely lackcluster, he can barely stand without being leaned up against something due to the lack of ankle rockers, he has no wrist swivels, no double jointed knees or elbows, and his cape and skirt are way too hard to do anything with him.

Eh, I can see where you're coming from. My Doom figure is sitting at the back of a shelf and I haven't touched it in ages, but I'm sure everything you said pretty much applies. Nonetheless, I really do like the sculpt a lot, and I'd love to see Hasbro take another stab at a Doom figure that addresses all of the issues you mentioned. I'm sure it's only a matter of time.
As for this guy, Infamous Iron Man was a great arc for the character, but for those that want regular old Dr. Doom he's already gone back to that in the new FF books face scars and all, so I'm surprised Hasbro is still going to bother to release this. I always thought they didn't want to bother with doing character concepts once the story is over, which is why we'll never get Phoenix Five Cyclops? Personally I'll probably buy this version if I ever see him, but I am in no way going to drive out of my way to different Walgreens just to get one like I did for a Mystique. |
