I avoid Black Friday because the few times I tried it I ended up really hating it.
Plus nothing seemed like good enough of a deal this year to really fight the crowds for it. |

I looked around at my local Target.
And when I came back on Saturday, most of the stuff was still there. |

I went out on Saturday and Monday. MU has not been restock in Texas since late September (except for the odd Targets that got wave11) from what I can tell. Just warmers. It sucks.
I've also been keeping an eye out for Joe POC wave 3 and haven't seen it. Seen enough Alley Vipers and Jungle Vipers for me to decide that Joe is getting restocked better than MU. |

Scored a AT-AT for $70.00 and a Battle Ops Bumblebee for $35.00 at Meijer Thanksgiving morning. Later that night at TRU got some Terminator:Salvation Endos for .74 cents and B1G2Free ROC figs. The Battle Ops Bumblebee's will be that price until this Saturday 11:59 PM. I might "need" another one.

Unfortunatley around here it's the same MU pegwarmers{I only collect MU} that have been sitting still for over 4 months. I'm really beginning to doubt ever finding Thanos or the 2011 wave 1 to have under my tree{hook me up if you cna lol}. My Walmarts and Targets have made it clear they will NOT restock any MU til the ones they have sell so I guess if I can't get any help from fellow collectors or ebay them then I might as well write off collecting this line. Really bums out my Xmas spirit not to mention my finance' s since most of my wish list is MU.

I stayed my ass home. I never find anything on Black Friday, most stores are raided before I even get to them. Plus I hate waiting in lines.

New MU figures are so hard to find. I think 2 things are killing the series. First, too many hard to find characters short packed and some waves having common character's double packed. Havok and Archangel were hard to get, but yet every time I go to the store I see about 5 of each character from that wave. Thus, the collector's and e-bay scalpers are buying them all up (jacking up the prices, along with demand), and leaving all the shelf-warmers.
Second, I think Marvel is putting too many of the same big name characters in every wave. Spider-Man and Iron Man already have their own lines thanks to their movies. There must be about 8 different Spider and Iron Man's released, and Wolverine has about 6!! And they are only 2 years deep. Now with year 3, plans for more Spider-man's, Iron Man's and Wolverine's. We need more Vision's, Sunfire, Moon Knight, Warpath, Archangel, Havok!!! And more female characters. 2 years with no Rouge, Invisible Woman, Scarlet Witch, etc.? I live in Houston, TX, and there are only 2-3 stores that I know of that regularly/semi-regularly re-stock's these figures. One Wal-Mart has had the same 3 figures for 2 months, where's the re-order? Another store has 6-8 Iron Man's, Spider-Man's, Multiple Man, AIM, Colossus figures...someone move the figures to other stores, we are missing entire waves!! I really like these figures and initially was only going to buy X-Men, but I have been really liking most of the line, whether I am big into the charater or not. It's gotten to the point that if I don't buy the figure when I first see it, I may never see that figure again. I guess TRU had 2 for $10, but its the same 3-4 different figures everywhere (guess you could build up an AIM or Multiple Man army). However, I did get a few figures over the past week or so. Before Thanksgiving, TRU 2 for $10 I picked up Galactus and few MU figures that I have been putting off, Wrecker, Multiple Man, Mystique, got Hulkbuster Iron Man, today, Tuesday, I got Doc Samson and Cpt. Marvel, missed WW Hulk by minutes...got a few older XMO toys, Cyclops, Ice Man and Dead Pool at Marshall's and TJ Maxx. Hadn't really seen anything else that great for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. for kicks I stopped by a few places but both Target and Walmart took no effort to restock MU at all. They priced Iron Man figures at $5 but it doesn't look like any of them are moving at all. I agree that the Spider-Man and Iron Man figures are hindering the line; no one's buying them or their own lines for that matter. Black Friday isn't much of a collector's day; mostly moms and grandmas who don't know what they're buying anyway..

Whats Hindering the MU line..........the 4 Iron men ALWAYS on the shelf......the house of M Spiderman, Red/black or blue Spiderman, AIM Soldiers, Colossus is starting to be a problem, Luke cage, Ult Cap........Stop packing these guys in future cases.......believe me Hasbro they would still sit on shelves........
Retailers wont put out new Figs till this crap moves....... |

Normally, I refuse to go shopping on Black Friday because I've seen both sides of the chaos (retail and consumer) and would rather not relive either experience. But, TRU's Thursday night event had me intrigued, so I thought I'd give it a go. Thankfully, my sister came along to share in my misery as we stood in the cold rain for hours while the occasional gust of wind threatened to strip us of our umbrellas.
I swear the rain came down so steadily for so long, it became a background noise like the electrical hum you hear when someone has left the TV on. Anyway, here is my limited haul: TRU Picked up some Barbie stuff and a Camp Rock blanket for both my niece and daughter, a starter laptop for my daughter, some Club Penguin boosters for my nephew and had my sister buy some TF's and WFC for the DS as X-Mas presents for me. Unfortunately, we didn't get into the store soon enough to get in on some of the other deals that night, but we came out ok in the end. More on the TF stuff after X-Mas Target Friday, I got the 2 PCC 5-Pack repaints for $10 each (one's a X-Mas present to me from my in-laws), and also got XMO:W (the DVD) for $6 and Big Bang Theory S3 for $13. Best Buy Picked up a 4GB Micro SDHC card for $9. And that's it. My X-Mas shopping isn't nearly done yet, but it's a good start.

Okay so I'm not the only one with the restock blues.
Had to go for some groceries at the local Wal-Mart Sunday and I thought hey maybe new stuff was put out for Black Friday a few days ago. No new Transformers figures. No new Iron Man waves, just the same old shelf warmers. Still no GI Joe figures. Still no Marvel Universe figures. I'm not sure what toy makers did to make Wal-mart mad but it's leave town or order off the internet to get anything new for a long time now. |
