Makes no sense to make Mastermold who's like 6x bigger than an avg Sentinel. The smart $ is on making army builder Sentinels that some may wanna get 2-3 or more of if they have that kind of cheddar & space for it. Another 16' scaled DOFP classic Sentinel would be the best bet! I'll take 6 of these in 16' scale with alternate open/closed hands, weapons FX, light up eyes. This awesome custom of a John Byrne DOFP Sentinel is what I would love if they made!

I am not super keen on another Sentinel, but there seems to be no jumping the shark on the popularity of the X-Men and I'm 100% positive that's the route they will take.
I want a Galactus, but even at 36" it would still be out of scale, unless they were shooting for a malnourished Galan - at full power, the fig would need to be the height of an NBA player. Some interesting characters that would be in scale at 3 feet (my guesstimate of a feasible size): The Stranger Tyro Magus Giantman/Goliath Black Goliath Atlas Stature Tower Titan Groot (full size) Mephisto Apocalypse Devil Hulk Out of scale - similar to Galactus: Tundra Terminus Red Ronin (AKA Raideen lol) Celestials Living Tribunal Love & Hate Kronos Eternity Infinity Ymir Surtur Dormammu Mephisto etc Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 02-25-2020 at 08:40 PM.. |

I don't know what you guys are talking about. Everything I've been able to find puts Galactus at usually just under 30 feet, classic sentinels at 20 feet, and classic Master Mold at 30 feet. These are all reasonable 20" to 30" Haslab projects. We already have a decent (though, admittedly, not amazing) 16" sentinel at well under Haslab pricing, though, so I think Master Mold would be the better project here. It's all a moot point, since they've all but confirmed a sentinel as the first project, but it better not be under-scaled at only 16" for the kind of money Haslab's going to ask.

A classic DOFP Sentinel is 20ft tall so a 20 inch tall Sentinel would be accurate if we're using the ML 6' scale. Don't know where everyone is getting this "gigantic" scale that a normal Sentinel must be just cuz it's being done by Haslab. I'd be more than happy with a comic accurate John Byrne based highly articulated DOFP Sentinel in 20' scale with alternate open/closed hands, light up eye features & some weapons FX & flexible tendrils. Slap an $85 tag on it & I'm getting a triad patrol of them!

Internet searches function off an old quote from OHotMU that puts a malnourished Galactus at just under thirty feet. However, I think I've only ever seen Starlin illustrate Galactus as being that small in a moment when he was starving - also the reason Thanos was able to actually fight him with some semblance of parity. Most people with a familiarity for cosmic Marvel know the character is typically drawn as being much larger than that. We've seen many iconic illustrations of Galactus birthing/holding/rejuvenating Silver Surfer in the palm of his hand and we've also seen Galactus (well, Franklin Richards, as Galactus) fight Celestials eye to eye and stand in equal stature to them. But let's go conservative and only reference Surfer being engulfed in Galactus' palm. Surfer's listed at six feet tall. Still being conservative, let's say that from the tip of the middle finger to base of palm where the hand meets the wrist, for Galactus, is 7-8 feet - remember, "engulfed" by Galactus' hand, meaning the distance would have to be greater than Surfer is 'tall'. If we go by normal human proportions correlating hand size to height the standard ratio is 9.03 to 1. That would be place Galactus at 63'-72' and, again, that's a conservative estimate as I have seen many illustrations featuring Surfer and board completely enveloped in the palm of one hand. To get a better visualization, try to enclose your own hand around the current Surfer fig and board. That should provide a perspective on how large a scale-Galactus should be.
Now people will quibble and exposure to stories will also play a factor, but this is one of many topics that is a bit more involved than a quick google search. As much as I love the the OHotMU as a definitive guide, there were many things, especially as it regards height, that were/are inconsistent with what regular readers experience. The Hulk and the Thing have been drawn as being much larger than their "official" heights, and Cap Britain is significantly taller than 5'11", just to name a few instances. Additionally, spacial awareness, one the nine types of intelligence laid out by Gardener, in 1983, varies from person to person. I'm not name dropping the study and its progenitor as common knowledge - I'm only familiar with it from having worked in education, for a time, and having had to review the material as a course of study. Basically, some people just have an affinity for seeing these sorts of things in a 3-D world, which may attest to the variance in opinion here. Please don't take my comments as my implying that people that think a proper Galactus figure should be greater than 36" are in any way smarter, I'm just opining about the possible reasons for disparate opinions. ...meh. I can’t see another Sentinel, has to be the Blackbird, which leads me to hoping for a GotG Milano, and Avengers Quinjet. Honestly, I’d take a Punisher’s van and be happy.
Then again, Black Series vehicles didn’t fair too well. I remember picking up a First Order Tie Fighter at Goodwill a few years back, they had a pallet of them. |

I'll be honest, my only exposure to Master Mold comes from the 90s X-men toon. In the show, regular sentinels were birthed from his chest. In that respect, the scale comparison between MM and a regular sentinel would be akin to an adult and a newborn.
I doubt Hasbro would go $85 for a larger, more articulated sentinel with accessories when their last sentinel debuted for around $100. Although, you may be onto something with your army building idea. They may release them as a set. Their last Sentinel was $100 due to the fact that it was a SDCC exclusive & came with DOFP Wolvie. When they originally came out via the 4' MCU line back in 2011, they were selling for like $49.99 if memory serves. A 20' scale Sentinel would be 4' taller than the 2 previous Sentinels that are both in the 16' scale. Given that they should include alternate open/closed hands with any new release, plus weapons FX & flexible capture coils/tendrils & possibly a battle damaged head sculpt or what would be even better is to make different body parts be battle damaged & include them with different Sentinels. So 1 Sentinel could come with a BD head, another with a BD leg & another with BD Torso, etc, & you can swap out a Sentinels non damaged arm for a BD arm & if you get all 5 Sentinels that come with a different BD part, you can assemble a fully battle damaged Sentinel! That would pretty much guarantee that these would be must have army builders since it would basically be a battle damaged BAF Sentinel wave! Now if that warrants paying $95-$100 per Sentinel, so be it, as long as they are based on the classic DOFP Sentinels. |

Minor correction but the DoFP pack was Amazon exclusive, not SDCC. It was originally going to be TRU exclusive but we all know how that story ended. There was a SDCC exclusive version of that Sentinel back in the MU line but the only thing exclusive was the packaging.

Sentinel #1 comes w/the BD Head Sentinel #2 comes w/the BD torso Sentinel #3 comes w/the BD L arm Sentinel #4 comes w/the BD R arm Sentinel #5 comes w/the BD R leg Sentinel #6 comes w/the BD L leg Each Sentinel can come with their specific # printed on their upper chest. |

As someone else mentioned, this was an Amazon exclusive so it probably had a higher production run than most exclusives. I'd say if they dropped the Logan from the set, Hasbro would've priced the sentinel alone for at least $80. There's no way that they'll give us a bigger, better articulated figure with more accessories for $100 or less. Also, this is going to be a very small production run compared to something sold in Walmart, Target or Amazon so no economies of scale savings either. Besides, the very fact that it's a Haslab project tells me that it's going to be well over a $100.

I would have no problem with it being $100 if it's a fully articulated 20' tall Classic DOFP Sentinel that comes with alternate hands & additional weapons FX & attachable capture cables for example. Rather pay that for a brand new highly articulated Sentinel than the $200 that people are asking for the 15yr old Toy Biz BAF Sentinel that while great looking figure, is not worth that asking price to me. I have just 1 & love it but am really psyched to see what this Haslab Sentinel is gonna be!

I’m hoping they buck everyone’s expectations and do a 1/12 scale Ziran the Tester that costs $750k.

I unapologetically love Iron Man 3, so I would welcome this to my collection with open arms. I'm thinking about some things we've seen from the films...The Quinjet, Hellicarrier, The Milano. Pretty much anything Marvel Studios related.

What is your guess for when we will see the next Haslab project? Upon completion of shipping the Sentinel or sometime earlier in 2021?

I'd say it varies on the brand, it might be G.I.Joes turn no ?
Marvel Legends got the sentinel, Star wars got jabba's sale barage & Transformers got unicron. Not sure who else is on the list. either way going to be a long time till we see another. |
