What would you do if your stuff/Collection went up in flames, flooded, destroyed and or stolen...??

Reading the Mom's basement thread made me think to create this one.

I would probably chase back the stuff that I really really like, all X-Force MU figures and all X-23 Comics for a small fortune.

Walk away- it'd be too damn expensive to replace and really, nothing kills that completionist urge like having nothing to complete!

I wouldn't even be able to think about toys. I have a storage space. I'd probably sell all the toys I had in it.

I live in tornado alley (And indeed, last spring my house got hit. No damage though. Didn't even knock over a DCUC figure), so I'm pretty well prepaired to part with my stuff.
Won't be happy about it, but there's nothing you can do. So can't really waist my life worrying about it, and can't really be upset if worst came to pass. Car, house... losing those is worse.

I also lived in a place that I got broke into on three separate times. So, I've also learned to let go on things outside of my control.

As long as my family was safe and sound, could care less about them.

As long as my wife and children were already safe, I probably wouldn't care about it at first. After the shock would wear off, I would check the status of my fire safe and pull out the records I keep on every toy in my TF collection (among other things) and call my insurance agent.

How do you claim those? That's a great idea and I have renter's insurance as well...

I got renter's insurance covering up to $40-50,000 in loss of property which I doubt would be in here, on top of that I use the marvel collector app to not only keep track of my toys for my own use, but for insurance purposes. Plus 95% of my collection can be replaced, the other 5% are customs, those I'd be sad for.

As long as you have that section like behindthemask mentioned (general property loss coverage) and you document everything (using itemized lists with pics, if possible), you should be covered. You could also see about getting it specificially insured, but you may have to shop around for an agency that will offer that particular service.

I try to keep my lists up-to-date every couple of months. Online collector sites (like shmax.com) and apps help me with that.

yeh I realized the other Day I really need to take some time and take pics of all our shit, just on the odd chance of something happening. I'm off fri-siun this week, I'll spend an hr and document it, then upload it into a omline album and email it etc etc just incase, it can happen and if u claim u have this and this and this without proof you may only get part of your claim.

assuming you were just talking about our collections and not the wife and kids burning up...cry

People are mentioning insurance and what not which I have to look in to. I was always under the impression that insurance for collections was a separate deal. Luckily I have pics of all of my stuff on my site if I ever need them.

Collector's insurance has been around for quite some time, but in the past it was usually reserved for the more "respectable" collections like major pieces of art and such. But it makes sense that it would grow to include other collections, considering how the collectibles market has grown.

Well, he didn't mention them as being excluded, so my first thought was about my family. Any material possessions will always come second to them. But to be fair, it's ok if others didn't think of it that way. I'm sure Exodus only meant the collections.

how could you think that O_O , although i have considered the only thing to do if theres a fire in my room or anywhere near i would go to the bathroom unscrew the shower thingy ( the ones where you can clip on and off the stand) then turn the tape on and use as a hose piipe directing the water with my thumb, now i guess none of you thought that ... i only did cause i have the bathroom right outside my room.

First, I would get revenge against the natural disaster for destroying my beloved toy collection.

After, I'd eat a really big sandwhich and then maybe take a nap.

Well based on the somewhat interesting layout of our house a serious fire would without a doubt destroy my collection,so heres what id HAVE to replace

Toy Story Babyface Kubrick
Hellboy 3.75inch Mr Wink
12inch Admiral Ackbar
Kaiyodo Zeke figure
3A Toys Bertie+Square
Stronox/Tankster Rob Zombie
Art Asylum 18inch Rob Zombie
Microman Scar Predator
And the parts to re-make my OC Frankenstein custom

The sad thing is writing this has made me realise just HOW many figures i own that i dont think i would actually miss....hmmmm i think i smell a BIG spring clear-out on the way.......

I would be really pissed at first, then after a while I would realize that I need to worry about more important things. Plus, for those of us with OCD, it would just be an excuse to rebuy all of that shit.

I might be upset about my Deadpool collection and some of my more favorite childhood toys... but life would go on. I almost lost my father over the summer, and I recently lost my best friend... after going through all that, the toys just aren't quite as big of a deal.

If that happens, hit me up. I have a Mr. Wink and I'm not too fond of him and only kept him so the 3 3/4" set wouldn't get split up.

After replacing every toy that was destroyed and then adding a few extra toys just to make the hurt go away I'd check to see if my family survived.
