I know they're having a carded Sentinel and some kind of new Legends Thor.

It could just be possible that they aren't doing it this year....
Its not like we can expect them to do it. |

On the one hand, Hasbro marketing for Marvel Universe has been mind bogglingly terrible. On the other hand, there's a very good chance that like a lot of the movie studios, they just don't want to put in the effort for SDCC this year. I think that carded Sentinel and Thor figure are the only exclusives they're doing. Also keep in mind that they're also doing exclusives for several other lines, including that long awaited final wave of Indiana Jones figures, so they might be trying not to overload people on exclusives.
In my opinion, I don't see SDCC continuing at the pace it has been for the last several years. I think the concept of giant overhyped trade shows is starting to die off. But that doesn't excuse the laughable marketing on Marvel Universe. Like "sneak peak" photos months after the figures have hit shelves, and a "Q&A" where they give the same boilerplate response to every question. |

I kind of see a lack of exclusives as a good thing because exclusive normally means scalper bait and the collectors have to pony up a huge mark up for the figures. Less exclusives just means more characters to release at retail and maybe collectors can afford a few more figures from Hasbro if they aren't spending so much of their collecting budget for exclusives on e-Bay.

Now that you mention it, the classic purple and pink sentinel is being released at retail in a box like with the classic Galactus, right? I will be so upset if it isn't. *whimper*

I may buy that Legends Thor for a silly price. Well, depends how silly silly is. I was planning on going to SDCC this year but job issues and lack of rooms in confortable walking distance from the con was impossible to find.

Could of sworn I read on Marvelousnews.com that they're not doing a big booth this year, like they normally do, they have a lot of movie momentum but not enough figures to justify the booth size and that if they can't top last year then don't bother, pretty sure they'll be there but a small venue booth and mainly to pump the cap movie and avenger stuff for next year, I could be totally wrong, but that's what I read.

I know the sentinel is an MU exclusive, but I am surprised there's not a carded figure. I expected something of an Avengers preview figure of sorts.
Last year, there was Galactus, Thor, movie Spidey, and Cap. The year before, we got 5 figures, too, with greyscale Cap and the Invaders pack. Most figures (excluding Spidey) were kitbashes with minimal new tooling that were really cool for hardcore collectors/comic fans. Maybe it's for the best. I was able to pick up most of the MU stuff last year (except for Galactus, who I considered a packaging variant), but was seriously p.o.'d to miss out on Sgt. Slaughter. I'd be really upset if they made a cool figure that I couldn't get because they made a ridiculously small amount and the competition to get MU figures has really increased over the past year. |

There was a Q about this in the last round:
3) Will there be any SDCC exclusives for Marvel Universe this year? Answer: As revealed at Toy Fair, we will be releasing Sentinel. We're still "hammering" out other details but we have a feeling there will be a "breakthrough" soon. The coloring emphasis is mine. Beta Ray Bill has a hammer called "Stormbreaker". Seems like BRB would re-use a lot of parts and might not sells tons at retail so would seem a good fit for a Hasbro SDCC exclusive. |

I'm hoping there isn't much of them since the scalpers will do all they can to nab things & hasbro wont hear the end of it because of their distribution issues that's why these llines are more scalper bait that the DCUC's or even WWE figures but it surprises me that MOTUC has it even worse (at least out here in NY & I don't even collect these). I know there isn't much demand but damn mattel is missing out on anyone who would see these on a passing glance & buy them. It's fortunate that we even get some of the MU figures at all but MOTUC doesn't see the light of day unless they have a 2 pack with a DCUC figure
idk just something I thought about |

They've announced another exclusive, but it's a Mighty Muggs Avengers set.
2011 SDCC: Marvel Mini Muggs The Avengers Special Edition Collector's Pack - Marvel - MarvelousNews.com Unfortunately, this fits the hint provided above. Hammering (Thor) and "breakthrough", since the Giant Man figure is breaking through the top of his package. |

bummer. The Q they were answering was specifically about MU, but I wouldn't put it past them to screw it up.

That MUGGS set looks amazing, I love the factor of THE Giant Man looks amazing, love the fact his head is bursting through the package, and for $34.99 for the set that's definatley resonable.
