There has be quite a bit of fanfare, excitement, and speculation surrounding the Guardians of the Galaxy Legends line that Hasbro recently revealed. While I am still on the fence about the aesthetics of the movie design/conceptualization for some of the characters, I nearly did a back flip when I saw the Nova ("Nova Prime" for all intents and purposes) planned for release within the line. I am a big geek on "comic canon" figs and this Nova is so spot on that it made me start to wonder about what could be.
Being a huge fan of "Cosmic Marvel", I decided I would start my first thread (ever - I comment on plenty - I have never started one) and piggy-back on some threads I have seen as of late. I have enjoyed threads pontificating on additions to the Spiderman Infinite line and speculation on what an X-men Infinite line could look like. With that as my backdrop, I naturally extended this thinking to the cosmic characters of Marvel that I'd like to see along with these GotG figs. My short list, starting with a few remakes: Beta Ray Thor (remake with the Hyperion buck - along with a Thor fig with the same buck. I say this because the "new" Thor is out of scale IMO - Hyperion and Thor have always been roughly the same size in canon) Silver Surfer (it's time for an update; use the new Bucky-buck lol with one hand extended for cosmic blasting and the other balled into a fist - or provide two sets of hands: fists and blaster hands) Adam Warlock (we need a "Gaurdians" Warlock. That costume was too cool. It would be nice to get a Magus also) New sculpts: Gladiator (many people have wanted it and with the Hyperion buck its an easy make) Quasar (Wendell Vaughn anyone? Wendell should have been made ages ago) Ravenous (he would need to be big; Hulk-big - BAF?) Blastar (also Hulk big - BAF?) Strontian (we cannot leave out Gladiator's sis - Moonstone-buck of course) Nova (not the Nova you may be thinking of but the Herald of Galactus Nova; Frankie Raye) Firelord (since we are on "heralds"....) Stardust (heralds again - great opportunity to create an all-new type of buck given his/her? - never really got a bead on the sex of this character - alien design) Morg (again a herald - this could be a line in itself - I guess we'll have to wait for Fox to either make a Surfer movie or give up the rights..uggghn) The Stranger (maybe they could work him into the Marvel Universe line and I could get him for my Legends collection like I do with most of the other "giants") The In-Betweener (cool character with new sculpt features that could be used for other characters) Well, that is just some of the ideas I have. I am curious as to what people make of these ideas and I am even more interested to know what cosmic characters other marvel fans would want to see. |

I have always loved the cosmic characters, but I feel like they aren't known well enough to really make it to plastic form. After all, these toys are marketed to the general fan base. That being said, we have gotten a few really cool figures. I suppose anything is possible.
My list would be: Nebula- what with her being in the Guardians movie, she would be known enough to get a toy. Quasar- I'd take either Wendell or Phyla Vell (even though she later became known as Martyr.) Silver Surfer- I agree that he needs an update, and with a new comic series coming out, that could tip the scales in his favor. Wraith- he was a pretty awesome dude in the Annihilation series. I always wanted a figure of him. Gamora- I want a comic style one! Adam Warlock- In his guradian costume which is an easy swap with Magus. BAF Blastaar- Need I say more? |

I'm just going to agree with a few things right off the bat. Blastaar is one of the most overdue figures in ML, and I'd bet that if Toybiz held on for a little longer we would have seen it. Llilandra and Gladiator and some Shi'ar's would be sweet. Quasar also overdue. Fire lord and Frankie Raye are personal favourites of mine (fire effects like Hasbro made for Goblin please).
And last but not least by any means the Inhumans, which would need to include a new Blackbolt, much like if there was ever going to be an Alpha Flight team done, they would need to make a new Guardian (no blue please). I really like the MS Thanos, because he looks like he stepped off of a page, but an articulated one would be that much better.

Spyne-
You are right about mass appeal in relation to obscure characters, but a man can hope right? Lol These infinite lines are featuring some obscure guys that are not exactly rolling off the tongues of the uninitiated. Look at Arana (Spidergirl), most people even on this site had problems distinguishing between her and Arachne (Spider Woman 2). Then there is Boomerang (a c-d list villain) and you are pretty hardcore if know who Baron Zemo is....but I totally agree where you are coming from. This list is a "wishlist" that maybe some Hasbro Marvel Legends team leader/exec might look at for ideas (I can only wish right? hahahA) for an insertion here or there. I see we have many names in common. I like the idea of a Nebula, Wraith, and Gamora (her's was one of the conceptualizations in GotG that I was disappointed with)... Yeah man! I thought about the Inhuman's too. Blackbolt needs new treatment and a Lockjaw BAF would return a great deal of excitement to BAF again. Imagine the hair accessories (I know that sounds a bit strange and more fitting for a Barbie toy - but you know what I mean!)they could add to Medusa. Karnak, Triton, Crystal, and Gorgon would all be welcome! |

For legends sized I'd be okay if we got Medusa, Blastaar, Crystal, Quasar, Gladiator, Deathbird, Vulcan and Lilandra. But then again I'm not a huge cosmic fan, I'm probably incorrect in putting the Inhumans and Shi'ar into the cosmic line anyways.

Well most of the Shi'ar could fit into a X-men line at some point. I consider them more an X-family group up until the Annihilation stuff. But since he is kind of related to the Shi'ar, I want a nice DARKHAWK figure. He even hung around with Nova a few times in space and the old New Warriors days.

BlueMarvel- You have many valid points. Much like you, I'm hoping for the obscure guys rather than another Iron Man or Hulk or Spider-Man. I also hope you didn't think I was attacking you. Personally, I love your list and we have some in common.
Phantomcrow- I would LOVE a Darkhawk figure! |

Spyne-
In no way did I think you were attacking me. This site is pretty friendly and the discourse found here feels more like a discussion than the fare found on other fan/enthusiast sites. I have participated in many a videogame enthusiast site; trust me when I say this, I know when I am being attacked. LOL I see a lot of Shi'ar and Lilandra mentions. Phantomcrow brings up an awesome point that these figures could find their way into an X-men family line since they are pretty much synonymous with the X-men brand. Vulcan, Deathbird, and Gladiator (I really hope they make him - MU has one, why not ML?) could easily show up in such a line. I'm really digging the idea of Darkhawk. Maybe even Talon of the Fraternity of Raptors - even though he looks almost exactly like Darkhawk. WarMachine brings up another good point, Captain Marvel could use an alternate version. I like Ultimate Captain Marvel and I would add the potential of Lord Marvel from the Cancerverse. Cap. Nash- You are not incorrect at all with including the Inhumans in a cosmic context. The War of Kings story arc featured the Inhumans center-stage as thye exploded into outerspace and onto the cosmic scene. Speaking of terrestrial natives to Marvel's Earth that have space roots and could use a fig line...I would add the Eternals to the mix. |

Also, a BAF Lockjaw would probably be the coolest BAF since the Toy Biz era |

And I get what people are saying with the Shi'ar being more X-men oriented and actually agree with that. It's kind of funny to me why I included them because my list of wanted cosmic figures was so short, I felt I needed to add more in. I almost even put Polaris in there simply because she was in outer space for quite some time and....well..WE NEED A FRIGGIN' POLARIS and I will try to work her into any discussion until we get her. Edit: and now see, I have worked her into this discussion as well. LOL |

I'd personally love to see an entire sub-line devoted to the Heralds of Galactus.

I'd kill for a big Kronos figure with smokey, dark translucent plastic.
This custom by Argenta was dope. Argenta-2008 Customs: Kronos Marvel Legends custom

The more people mention Galactus and his heralds the more I want a new Surfer. That last buck ("savage" surfer and the Ronan release) was too small to be Norrin Radd. In fact, that buck was also too small to be the Vision or Claw. However, it is perfect for Iceman....but I digress. The buck I want used for Surfer is that Black Panther buck with swap out power-cosmic-blasting hands/fists.
Back to Galactus....I would love a Galactus, but if a "true" Galactus were done he would need to be the size of Shaq! And then I would not have the money to buy him let alone the space to store him. Anyone ever see that giant figure of the Antimonitor Mattel made in 2009? It was 30 inches tall!! That's like the size of a third grader! At least get us a Galactus that big! LOL |

To be honest, given the introduction of the Guardians of the Galaxy to the cinematic universe, I guess it would be a great avenue for Marvel to full introduce obscure characters (galactic/cosmic at times) to the fans. I may not be the biggest fan of Cosmic characters but I've read a good number of comics that highlights them and I must say, a full wave consisting of the aforementioned characters would be awesome.
