I'm curious if the First Class timeline is going to ignore the events from the first three X-films.
Looks interesting, for sure.

I hope it's as long as the Avengers and not under 2 hours like the rest of the X movies have been.

I know most people are excited for stuff like Thor 2 and Captain America 2, but this is the movie I am hyped for. I love the X-men series (even though I am more into DC) and I loved First Class. Hopefully this one delivers.

I second that! And the fact that the trailer didn't show the Sentinels, even though we know they're in there.

First X-Men sequel I've looked forward to since X2. I really liked First Class after I saw it, but I was so burned by X3 (and XMO:W, to a lesser extent) that it took a lot of convincing from my friends to even give it a chance.

Seems a lot like it should be called Wolverine and the X-Men.

Well, he did have a rather large role in the original comic story, so it would stand to reason that that would carry over into a movie adaptation of said story.

AND it's pretty much giving the fans what they want. Wolverine. I wasn't a big fan of Hugh Jackman as Wolvie at first, for all the reasons, too tall, not thick enough, blah blah blah, but he's really won me over during all these years of playing this character and getting behind him and sticking with it. Regardless of how bad the hair looks sometimes haha. The best part of First Class is that little Cameo he has. That's how powerful that dude is.

well to this point X-Men series made 3 Cronological mistakes with only 3 characters Charles Xavier, Eric Lensharr, and Emma Frost

actually it was "Go F yourself" which even Rebecca Romijn wished she could have said.. And it was perhaps the best line of the Whole movie...

X3 got so screwed over with script changes, Halle Berry demanding the lead so they cut Cyclops, changing directors in the middle of the film, etc. Poor Brett Ratner isn't the best director but he inherited a mess and couldn't hope to have made much out of it. A stronger director and producer could have gotten it done right from the start but they were on a deadline to get it finished. The guys that did the rewrites didn't know what they were doing and no one cared. It was a lot like a big budget video game title pushing for a Christmas deadline. Except, if things are broken in the game they can just patch it later. I'm most excited by the prospect that this will change a fair amount of the movie continuity and allow them to maybe do something else with it. I am still a little worried that it's going to be too busy. I mean, lately we have heard about them cutting a bunch of stuff so they've clearly had issues. Also, why is Professor X able to walk again after the events of First Class?

That was one of the "Mistakes" I was talking about... X3 shows Charles exit a vehicle with Eric walking. He is already gone Bald so the cornology is askew. Add in that Charles is standing in the X Jet when he meets Scott and a Teenage Emma Frost at some point after the Vietnam War. When Emma is an adult in November 1963 things get lost. I think Biff Tannen went back to October 1955 and changed things a bit

Yeah, I wouldn't mind future Chuck walking so much because we know in the comics that guy gets crippled and then walks again every few years. In the future, at least, we could assume some medical miracle or mutant healed him. Seeing young Charles standing when meeting Magneto in the trailer is curious because First Class made a big point of him losing his legs at the end. As long as they explain then I will accept it but they better not just be like "oh, I got better". And cheaping out on Beast being blue all the time is lame. If they didn't want it they shouldn't have made it happen in the first film. Beast's thing has always been that he was insecure about his looks and somewhat afraid of the world. Give him a magical Hulk-like transformation that he can control and it's better than a costume change for secret identity.

My biggest problem with X3 was they tried to cram too much into the film. They were pulling from three separate comic plots that weren't even related to each other (and separated by a decade of real-time in one case). A lot of that probably came from the re-writes, especially if the other writers truly "didn't know what they were doing". Add on top of that the continuity errors and it was a really rough viewing experience for me. Quote:
Also, the scene of Xavier standing when Scott and the others approached the Blackbird could easily have been explained by Xavier using his mind to create the illusion of him standing outside the jet. Granted, it's not the most elegant solution, but it works without messing things up further. Of course, if DOFP retcons everything into FC's timeline, then any continuity errors in X1-X3 or Wolverine 1 & 2 are rendered moot. Quote:

Those events weren't in X3, though. Xavier meeting Scott and teenage Emma in the late 70's was at the end of XMO:W and Emma as an adult in '63 was in First Class - films that came out after X3.

Actually I would say after 1979 the Accident happened on March 28, 1979 at 4am operations of the Nuclear Facility did not return to use until 1990 so the Movies events would have to take place between 1979 - 1990 I am well aware of when the events took place I was saying that the Time line is skewed

As I said, I'm hoping DOFP negates everything that came before FC, just like Marvel has done with their comics from time to time.
