Snowflakian, sorry dude. They messed Deadpool up in my opinion.
I'm pretty sure you're really a Fox exec justifying your decisions. |

Oh yeah, sorry for not specifying that they were "optic concussive blasts" Writing "beams" seemed a little easier at the time. My bad.

Seriously, though. Snowflakian, you do bring up a lot of really good points and I truly hope that they do have a clear direction for where they want to take the Deadpool character in any future films. The Wolverine Origins movie is pretty shallow and it just didn't feel to me that the depth in concept that you are describing is present in this particular film.
I really do also hope that you are contracted by the studio to write a draft for the Deadpool solo movie as is seems you have a good handle on the material and the character and I believe from what you've written that you could explain everything that went down and execute it properly. Most of the time, the people in charge of these things just don't "get it". |

Well, it really depends on who they hire for it, but for the most part it's shock inducing at first to see him so different. But once you get used to it, and see where it could go, it actually seems like a decent choice afterall. Especially with the new scenes, which I don't want to ruin.

So are you saying that you saw the preliminary version AND the new footage?

Yeah. I read that the "new footage" bit was in fact not true. I did hear that there are supposedly a few different after the credit scenes that they plan on showing. The one I saw had Wolverine at a bar. Maybe Snowflakian saw one that dealt with Deadpool.
How many of these scenes are there supposed to be anyway? They said that there were at least two. But is there a definite number? |

Most of the time, the people in charge of these things just don't "get it". If the final cut doesn't have Weapon XI being a clone, feel free to spread around my take on why it works. If we're lucky, maybe they'll actually use an idea like it. Or heck yeah, contact me to help write it. xD All I was trying to point out is that while what we see now is what we see and react to, we need to look at the potential still there. Now when they ruin that potential as X3 did compared to what X2 had set up, then we can scream foul. Until then, all we are doing is showing how limited our perceptions are in comparison to how limited theirs are. When in reality, a good writer can adapt quite easily to maintain both and even using canon from the movies to do so. Just remember, a fertile imagination opens doors to possibilities. We as toy enthusiast especially should know this mantra. And as for how many endings it could have, that'll have to wait till dvd for an exact number. What's circulating has varied it seems per test audience and even locations. But what the final run on may 1st has, should be pretty universal. And yes I saw the work print, and while it surprised me at first what they had done, I quickly warmed up to it from the possibilities present. While in the minority, I hope not much was altered in the way of flow, so as to leave it open for fertile imaginations to tap later. So hopefully the larger picture of the movie run from Origins to X3 will represent a quite decent Mutant Evolution Series of Films. Okay, maybe not X3 unless they can retcon it using mr. sinister in a true X4. Since you know he would want Scott's and Jean's DNA to restore them in 'younger bodies' as experiments that could pave the way for an Apocalypse X5, to culminate in an Onslaught X6 from Xavier's body hopping. The potential is there, if they hire the right writers. One of the great things about Deadpool's power as well, is his lack of aging. So they could easily tap him from aftermath in the 70s/80s till even post X3. Shame Gambit doesn't work like that though. By the time the X-Men movies hit the story, he's already in the old folks home, or possibly one of the old guys playing cards near Eric playing chess. Though to be perfectly frank, while I love the possibilities set up for Deadpool, I'm more intrigued by the extremely minor potential set up from wolvie's dna being on file. X-23 movie anyone? Heaven's to betsy I'd never leave the theater if that one was done right. I'd just keep watching it over and over and over and over. That theater I would see it at, would be in the green from the number of tickets I'd buy, for years. Last edited by Snowflakian; 04-30-2009 at 06:05 AM.. |
