the sturmvogel II is actually designated as YF-22. and the rerelease isn't the sturmvogel. it's the super nova which IS the YF-21.

Semantics, that's like saying the YF-22 isn't a Raptor prototype when the production F-22 is a production Raptor.

The VF-0A is the regular release with bunny and Wolfpack markings. No word on a stand alone Shin VF-0A or bundle re-release.

sigh. whatever. while the main body styles are employed for both toys. they have differences and ARE different toys. they also HAVE different names and the 21 is receiving the reissue NOT the 22.

Saying that the YF-21 & YF-22 are basically the same is like saying that the a Ford and Chevy truck are the same. I think that Firmpulse is just asking for clarity in the reports. I know that I often check these out and sometimes are confused due to 'close enough' reports.

It is to me. I am considering getting into this area of collectibles (due to urging from friends and because i loved the original movies) and i know i have missed out on many of the original releases. so i get my hopes up to get something that i missed out due to not collecting at the time only to read deeper in the post that its another release and not what was stated.
Kind of like Bait and Switch that stores used to do. Not a HUGE deal, but a small thing. And 'perfection is in the small things'. |

If you read "YF-21" you know what you are getting into. This is like arguing that the VF-1 should be the only thing called a "Valkyrie" when in fact many variable fighters share the name, such as the Fire Valkyrie, Blazer Valkyrie, et al. I mean it's not like Big West nor Kawamori designated the VF-1 the Valkyrie II to take into account that there is a pre-existing bomber prototype named the Valkyrie, even though his other designs like the VF-4 and VF-11 both had names(Lightning III; Thunderbolt III respectively) taking into account pre-existing planes in real life like the P-38 Lightning and P-47 Thunderbolt.

I see your point, but when I have saved the images i save the by the names. otherwise when i open the folder it is all VF- and gets confusing. I read and Sturmvogel II in the link and was confused when I went to the link and it took me to Super Nova. At first i thought maybe the linke was broken until Firmpulse mentioned the error.
We all Err, as 'to err is human'. I was only asking for a little clarification, but all I get is a dance. And if you wish to discuss naming of aircraft then you will notice that a US Aircraft are not assigned nick names until after the plane (whether fighter or bomber)reaches operation flight tests. And even then, the name is not official. That does not happen until after the Congress approves the funds and the aircraft is accepted into service. That would be like calling the F-16 a Land Dart. But that is what it was called during Test and Development (and is still sometimes referred as such due to its glide to fall ratio). |

the point is the sturmvogel II and super nova ARE DIFFERENT birds. the 21 is from macross plus and the 22 is from macross 7 flown by completely different pilots and from (arguably) different continuities. it's more than "semantics" it's ACCURACY. and isn't correctly reporting the news all about accuracy?
Arguably different continuities? The only out of continuity series consist of Macross II and some of the games like the Turbo Graphix 16 game. Plus takes place a few years before Macross 7.

sorry this is upsetting you so much. but it is an inaccurate headline and you seem to be having time with it. if you would've stopped dancing and admitted the error it probably would have died already. anyway...i'm done. |

and those other folks would be inaccurate/wrong as well. but to be honest you are the first person i have seen refer to the yf-21 as the sturmvogel II.

Oh no I think to avoid confusion we should call the 1st prototype the red cyclops 1st...or jelly donut; for accuracy purposes.

THANKS!... I think I will get my news from other sources from now on. Because if the people who provide it here do not CARE nor have enough RESPECT to help a newbie out, then I dont need to be in the company of THOSE TYPE of people -Those who dont care. I really think you would make a great Politician Shin. You dont care, you dissimilate, pass the buck and blame other people and those that bring up your erros for the reasons for why everything is screwed up.

I am sorry that you think i got too worked up. I just hate being bullied and blown off by Mods or Sr Members of boards when asking for clarity and help. I have helped to run other boards and NEVER would I have treated someone so harshly and disrespectfully on the open boards. I would have kept my tone civil and if the problem presisted I would have asked another to take it to PMs to see if something could be handled that way. |

No. I asked for clarification. Nothing major. Just a 'No, I was wrong, it should have been this' would have been acceptable. I did not want to but heads with Shin over this. But he went and blew me off with a 'Big Deal' post. And then later when I explained I was a NEWBI and saved images by the names and not the aircraft VF designations he made it out that I was in the wrong for not knowing what he meant. If he wants to get into his comments about the various aircraft and reuse of names and such, that is fine. As an History major in college and spending most of my life around aircrafts, I do know the history of most aircraft and how they were named and why certain names were reused. It WAS the reason I used the names and not aircraft identifiers.
