It wasn't really hated though. Nowhere near the level of hate later SW films received. The general consensus was that it was entertaining but flawed, the weakest of the OT. A lot of people were put off by the Death Star retread, Ewoks and Han not having much to do. But there was still plenty to like about it. People even complained about Empire...saying they didn't like downbeat ending and the fact that it ended on a huge cliffhanger. I guess no SW film is immune from criticism.
Also, talking shit about Ewoks will always be fashionable.

Also, talking shit about Ewoks will always be fashionable. I think if the SE hadn't come out it would have got worse, it just seems to be how online fandoms evolve. Critique and discussion morph into constant negativity.

It was utterly horrible. the whole thing with the cat is just nonsense. The top 3 WORST marvel movies FOR ME are: -captain marvel -ragnarok -apocalypse |

Saw Star Wars ROS and enjoyed it far better than the prequels. For me, episode order is 4, 5, 9, 7, 8, 3, 6, 2, 1. It finally gave Finn a purpose for being in the story beyond “gee wiz, I was a janitor” and it was a far more satisfying resolution for me than “Attack of the Tribal Care Bears”. Overall, a fun flick to watch. Something I cannot say about the prequels. Tried to watch them on Disney + on my countdown to watching episode 9 and it was atrocious. Episode 3 BARELY is watchable just for the end battles. I thank the maker that Disney took Starwars away from Lucas. Daisy Ridley is a bajillion times better than Hayden Christensen.

I watched "Us" by Jordan Peele with a friend recently. I enjoyed it until the end, where the twist kind of put me off. It's no "Get Out" to be sure. It wasn't bad, just not something I'm sure I would watch again. Had a really funny part in the middle though.

Tron Legacy is easily the most underrated film imo. Top 3 underrated would be
Tron legacy Under the skin Bladerunner 2049 In that order. The last two are critically acclaimed but box office bombs a bit |

I think a movie has to have bad reviews to be underrated

Not necessarily, but I get whatcha saying. Underrated film to me means movies that not everyone brings up when talking about “Great movies”
If you’re saying specifically “bad reviewed films” I’d say Watchmen needs to be up there too then Last edited by Tim; 01-10-2020 at 03:11 PM.. |

Bad or mixed I'd say, or maybe barely gets any attention

“Barley gets any attention” you went from sayin it needs to be a bad reviewed film to agreeing with me because that’s exactly what I said lol, you never hear anyone talk about how great Tron legacy, Under the skin or blade runner 2049 is.
But all good brotha! We all have different opinions, High five to another Tron Legacy fan! Last edited by Tim; 01-11-2020 at 04:36 PM.. |

I saw Midsommar last night. It was the most effed up movie I have ever seen in my entire life. Watch at your own risk.

The first two eps of The Outsider from HBO was really good IMO. It stars Krennic from Rogue One as the main detective. Only thing that worries me is that apparently it is based on something Stephen King wrote... which worries me a little bit since the ending of his stories can be very hit or miss IMO.

Just watched Crisis on Infinite Earths. Good god, what a piece of dogshit. I hate the Arrowverse.

Just watched Joker because of all the hoopla around it. Thought maybe I’m missing something. Nope. I thought it was probably the worst movie I’ve seen in years. Definitely one of the worst comicbook films. The ONLY reason it’s gotten ANY attention is because it’s a Martin Scorsese clone with Leaf Phoenix. They could film him staring at a wall for 2hrs and call it an Oscar winning performance.
Oh well, if others liked it, that’s great. For me, I’d rather watch a Michael Bay marathon than ever see Joker again.

Saw Bad Boys 3, great movie, didn't realize it was 17 years when they made 2. Hope 4 doesn't take as long...
Also I didn't think Infinite earths was that bad, only the part where they kept dropping the line "crossover" which made it cheap... |

As someone who has dealt with mental illness in my own life I think they did a really good job of portraying it. I don't think the movie thought it was more intelligent than it was. Phoenix did not overact, and the awards show that. He gave a masterful performance. The movie was anything but superficial or stupid.

It wasn't remotely Joker either. Joker is a genius as well as a menace. He challenges Batman. Phoenix couldn't challenge a toddler. He shows no intelligence, and was more pathetic than anything. Not even sympathetically pathetic. I never felt ANYTHING for the character. For an Oscar nominated performance, I expected to at least be impressed with that... really wasn't. All I got was a mediocre Scorsese homage.
I've worked with and around the mentally ill as well. It's a miracle this movie didn't do more harm than good. Phoenix was a joke... but not the Joker. To each their own, I'm glad you liked it. For me, and a lot of people in my social circles, it really didn't impress us at all. Especially not 11 Oscar nods. Sadly, little Leaf Phoenix can't do any wrong in the eyes of the Hollywood elite.
