Forgive me if this thread already exists, but I didn't notice it.
It's very hard to peg down what you feel is the best alltime figure... I know it certainly is for me! But I don't have such a problem with nailing the top ten (Putting them in order, that's a challenge. ) So, what are you're alltime ten favorite transformer toys? Here's what I'm looking at in my criteria: Robot mode appearance Alt mode appearance How much fun I find the toy all around. {Numbers do not represent ranking as favorites. Just to help me keep track without recounting after every paragraph} 1) Transmetal Tarantulas- This was one of the very first really, REALLY big toy stars, for me. I fell in love with his design in the show, and the toy completely lived up to it. He was wonderfully detailed, and articulated in spider mode. His motorbike halfmode was fun. And his robot mode, as well as colors, I felt were fantastic. Dispite odd arms which I normally don't like, he was very dynamic in his design. 2) Transmetal Megatron- I feel this is the single best Megatron toy ever made. This toy also represents what to me is the most iconic look of BW Megatron. Sure he's clunky in beast mode, but he's got a great sculpt there, a fun transformation, and a great robot mode that helps make up for that. 3) Beast Machines Motorcycle Drone- A toy that represents a very odd, quirky, and fun design. And does so much better a job at it than BM Thrust does. He has a really fun alien motorcycle mode, which I feel is a far better representation of Cybertronian alt modes than WWI or WfC (Head module, no passenger compartments for creatures that don't exist). He's got a clever transformation as well. Sure, his robot mode lacks meaningful articulation, or the ability to stand, but he's a very fun design. He did the unicycle well before the Arcee sisters, and does it a thousand times better than they. One of the biggest crimes is that this toy has never been reused. 4) G1 Scorponok- ...*gasp!* A G1 toy made a topten all-time best list?!? Well, he did. Separate from his marvelous character, this toy provided me with hundreds of hours of fun as a child. He was by far the best, and most useful "cityformer." His scorpion mode was off the charts, and he was one of the most usefully articulated G1 toys. He had, and still has one of the best designs. 5) Animated Arcee- What's not to love? She's the single best female figure in the line. She looks feminine, without having to resort to the fake roboboobs like BW and BM Blackarachnia. She also looks extremely dynamic, even when just standing straight. She's got a really fun vehicle mode, and a nifty transformation scheme. 6) Universe Hound- Like Arcee, he's just dynamic, even when standing straight. Nice realistic, but futuristic/fantasy vehicle. He's just really great. Never been able to put my finger on why. He's detailed, but not overly so. There's a nice simplicity to his design, without being dull. Boy this is getting hard... 7) Generations Kup- To me, this is what an update is all about. Pays great homage to the original, while being extremely fresh and new. His truck mode looks retro, but brand new all at the same time. We don't have enough pickups in a line that's almost exclusively sportscars, jets, and tanks. He has one of the best, if not THE best headsculpt of all time. 8) Fire Convoy- I think this is the best Prime/Convoy toy to date. May not be the best design, but it's the most fun to play with, out of all of them. If *any* Prime/Convoy deserved to get an axe as his weapon, this is it. I love the fire helmet design for his head. And dispite very little carry over from vehicle, he's a great looking robot. 9) RtS Jazz- A great, and truely faithful update, with great posability. 10) The Unknown Future- No top ten list can ever be truely complete, until the line comes to a complete and grinding halt. There will always be toys over the horizon, to far in the future for us to know about that will deserve to be on this list. This spot is reserved for all of them. Honorable Mentions: Animated Blurr- Awesome toy. Great robot, great vehicle. Certainly deserves to be in a top ten. Would be there if Arcee didn't exist. Masterpiece Grimlock- He lost out on the list by having the lamest dinosaur mode ever. BW Dinobot- Missed out by having a bad dinosaur mode. Universe Cheetor- Missed by having a bad robot mode. even though he has the single greatest beast mode ever. Generations Drift- Missed out because he has such a bad character attached to him. RotF Optimus- Loses out by having a truely difficult transformation. Amazing representation of the character model. But not a fun toy to transform. Classics Ultra Magnus- Great toy. Great robot, great transfomration, great colorscheme. But really needed a few more paint apps, and no paint apps on his faceplate (His head is cast in blue. His faceplate is naturally blue. Don't know why they waisted a paint app one painting his mouth wrong) Classics Mirage- Great toy. Just not as cool as the ones on my list. MP Thundercracker- Great toy. Great robot, great vehicle, great colorscheme. Just not as great as the ones on my list. Generations Skullgrin- Same thing: Great toy, great colors, great robot, great vehicle, just not as great as the ones on my list. BW 10th Anniversary Deluxe Megatron- Fantastic dinosaur mode, Great robot. But could have used better/more paint apps.

By Transformer, do you mean hasbro made? Or transformer as in transforming robot?
I'm going with the Hasbro series for right now. But reserve the right to amend my list if you mean the global 'changing robot' feature. 10. Generations Wreck-Gar Great alt mode, big enough for himself to ride added bonus. Bot mode has lots of nice articulation for poses, weapon storage, and did I meantion he can ride himself? The sculpt is all around well executed to feel like a modern day interpretation of the character. 9. WFC Soundwave A soundwave that looks iconic and is cybertronian. Love the vehicle mode, and love the additional 'fan modes'. This mold really works well for soundwave. The extra outfitting most WFC figures can do really does wonders in soundwave's favor. 8. ROTF Voyager Bludgeon His poseability and visage while still conforming to movie aesthetics is amazing. He's nostalgic goodness ready to pose with any figure. His altmode is fun, and the extra swords and complex hidden storage make for an all around great toy. 7. Animated Samurai Prowl PowerUp armor for a character. Plus he's a fun two seater bike. All around great engineering, a fun figure with a great alt, and lots of articulation. 6. Animated Blitzwing Evil Man-E-Faces with the split personalities evoked seamlessly. Both alts prove unique, nostalgic and fun. 5. Animated Shockwave 2 distinct bot modes and alt mods in one character. He has 4 modes, and they all have varies degrees of articulation and interactivity. A great figure for all kinds of play value, and an amazing design choice to evoke these different modes. 4. Generations Drift He can draw his own swords, comes with 3 swords, and is amazingly poseable. He vehicle mode blends well, and the overall character sculpt is just dead on perfection. 3. Animated Arcee Perfect Alt mode, sleek and nostalgic. Love the variation the easy to remove wings allow. Dual swords and lots of articulation for bot mode make for amazing poses. Nostalgic sculpt really sells the whole figure as a mish mash of animated and IDW. 2. Generations Lugnut While he's a new entry, his ambitious amount of articulation in his size class along side his various well executed visage just works too well in his favor. The alt mode is nice, and the bot mode just seems to sink right into it without much kibble either way. Overall this figure is just fantastic in every regard. 1. Takara Reissue Anniversary United Unicron Planet sized transformer given the full treatment and movie accurate paint alongside movie head. Tons of interactivity to legends class transformers, and the perfect being to attack cybertron or a globe of earth. Besides, you know you want to pose unicron and galactus arm wrestling... |

Well here we go! These constantly change mind you...
10 - The Classics Seeker. Fun, quick and flexible, plus it comes in all sorts of recolours and retools. My favourite would have to be Acid Storm just for the colouring, but honourable mention goes to Ramjet as he was the first TF in my new collection. 9 - G1 Ultra Magnus. Even today he still looks impressive in terms of size, plus he can carry smaller TFs on him! Bonus. 8 - G1 Quake. With a suprising ammount of posability for a G1, plus a fairly unique design for the time, this Targetmaster is easily one of my favourite early Decepticons. 7 - G1 Soundwave. An awesome toy for an iconic character. 6 - Universe Hound. Right from the first time I watched the cartoon I loved Hound and this toy embodies what the Universe/Classics/Generations line is all about for me - a perfect update of the characters we knew and loved back when we were younger. Plus he comes with Ravage! 5 - WFC Optimus Prime. A more badass looking Prime you will never see. 4 - Animated Leader Megatron. The best Megatron toy out there. 3 - G1 Optimus Prime. The toy I always wanted as a kid and never got, and now that I have him he makes me so happy 2 - Universe Onslaught. So what that he can't combine? If you looked this badass you'd never need to combine again? With a kickass altmode and a terrifying robot mode, the only weak point of this figure is the small wrist-mounted weapon he comes with. Needless to say I kitbashed him something much more suitable 1 - MP Prime. Awesomeness taken toy form. Honourable mentions: G1 Grimlock, Movie Landmine, HFTD Terradive and Titanium Ultra Magnus |

In no particular order (it was hard enough coming up with just 10).
I've gone for a mix of awesome design, favourite characters and pure playability. 1. Cybertron Scourge - The best dragon-former ever, has a great big axe and is suitably flame coloured. 2. RID Scourge - The original Nemesis Prime, black and teal plus has a sword. 3. MP Grimlock - The ultimate version of Grimlock, bad ass if you will. 4. G1 Sixshot - In my opinion one of the most fun transformers ever, if I could give the 10 year old version of me a present, this would be it. A brick perhaps, but you know what? Bricks are remarkably good at standing up on carpet. He has 2 guns, a plane, tank and puma modes (and more), and he killed Ultra Magnus in the Japanese Headmasters cartoon. Deal with that Magnus! 5. G1 Sixtrain/Universe Defensor - I like micromasters, I like trains and I like combiners. Quite literally a winning combination then. 6. Universe Onslaught/Bruticus with FP upgrade - bit of a cheaty one this but it represents something of a dilemma, which one to display? They are both just plain awesome. 7. Henkei Dinobot (definitely not Hasbro) - great character, anime accurate figure. He has a sword which always helps. 8. Universe Sunstreaker - I like Lamborghinis, especially yellow ones. A very innovative design as they got 2 different looking robots out of it. Also a spot on head sculpt. 9. HFTD Terradive - Pretty much the only Transformer I own which has no connection to G1 or Beast Wars. Because it's such an awesome transformer I bought 3 and made them into minions of Unicron. 10. Takara 2010 Unicron - It doesn't really matter which version you've got of this mold, it's fun, imposing and just plain brilliant.
