I've hung around for a little while, and I've decided I like it here. This community is a nice one. I've not encountered anyone who's openly hostile, and there are no trolls that I've seen present. This board has enough traffic to keep it moving, but not so much that if you log off for a day, you're hopelessly lost. So, I'm called Toph, in real life. (Yes, that is a valid nickname I've been given based on my real name. And yes, Avatar's Toph rocks.) I'm called Jetty, or CJ online, as I've had this handle for like, 11 or 12 years now. I'm one of the starting members of the TCC (Transformer Collectors Club) Board. It was a very nice community, but in recent years has developed a serious troll problem. So, I'm big on trolls. And sometimes because of the poor customer service of the club in general, combined with their tolorance for trolling, I can be a bit standoffish, and confrontational. I'm trying to lose that jaded edge, so I appologize in advance. I've got a range of nerdy interests. Comics: Back in the ninties, I was big in marvel. That changed around the time Grant Morrison wrecked X-Men (I feel he did, anyway). Since then, I've jumped ship to DC, and have genuinely little interest in Marvel, beyond Runaways, Young Avengers, and Ultimate Spiderman. For DC, I'll happily read anything, but I focus on Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Shadowpact, and Secret Six. Manga, I have a pretty decent library, consisting of Love Hina, Chobits, and Onegai Teacher. I'm currently collecting/reading Rosario+Vampire, both Negima series, Suzuka, and Aria. I also love animation, and will watch a wide variety of cartoons. (I'm not afraid to say that MLP:FiM is now one of my altime favorite shows) I'm also a big transformer nut, though my interests have subsided for the last several years. My favorite toylines and series are Marvel G1, G2, Gobots, the Beast Era, RiD, Animated, Classics-RtS, War Within, and IDW G1 up until AHM (Which wrecked that). My current favorite toyline, and my top priority is Mattel's DCUC and GLC. For real world interests, I love animal life, both living, extinct, and undiscovered. I tend to focus on Sharks, Squid, and Dinosaurs.

Welcome!
Didn't care for Morrison's run on X-Men, either. REALLY hated Hank McCoy's "cat" mutation and his redesigned costume, too. But I've tried to at least stay in the know with MU as a whole, mostly because Marvel will always be my favorite over DC. I like DC too, but a lot of their heavy hitters are just too overpowered, IMHO (especially Supes). I became a huge fan of Green Lantern during the original Parallax arc and have always enjoyed Batman - especially his rogues gallery. In fact, the Joker is my all-time favorite comic book villain. Beyond that, DC tends to float in and out of favor with me. I guess it depends on the story arc and the characters involved. But none of that compares to my love of all things Transformers. There are plenty of TF toys I don't like, but I've enjoyed almost every iteration of the brand fiction (some more than others). My favorite continuities are G1 (Marvel), Beast Wars/Machines, RiD and Animated. TF:Prime looks like it might be joining those, but I'm going to hold off until I've seen a full season. Toy-wise, I like G1, BW, RiD, Cybertron, Animated, Classics thru RtS, ROTF/HFTD and Masterpiece. EDIT: Oh, and in case you couldn't tell, I'm a big fan of Disney's Phineas and Ferb.

Nice to see you're sticking around man! I've seen you around on some threads.
My nickname around on here is Tarq...because my handle (which I've had for several years) is crazy and cumbersome. I have to admit, I'm more of a toy collector then a comic enthusiast and any comics I read or buy are to supplement my knowledge about what the toy is representing. So I don't really have too much knowledge or preference when it comes to different eras in Marvel or DC. I do admit I like Marvel infinitely more then DC for some reason. I am a completist at heart. I have every figure from Marvel Universe and 99% of other figures from it's "companion lines" and a few other supplements I picked up to make my Marvel Universe bigger!! Because however MU has it's low points in the year (like now when nothing new is out at all...), I have gotten into some other lines to keep my spirit happy and my wallet empty. I almost have my DC Infinite Heroes line complete, I'm collecting some older Transformers and some other miscellaneous lines. In real life I'm also a musician and an avid tinkerer and builder (I've started many customs but have yet to finish one!!!) |

I enjoyed comic books in particular DC, until Morrison administered what can only be decsribed as biggest cluster mess in comic history. You know something's not right when the pre - crisis continuity made more sense than when he decided to bring back the multi - verse into full effect.
Who says we're not hostile? You should see how I am with any Wal - Mart employee who tries to intercept my pallet diving. Last edited by jimster2010; 01-12-2011 at 09:13 AM.. |

Welcome back!
Yeah, have to agree that some of the transformer specific websites can get a bit heavy sometimes, particularly concerning knock-offs and exclusives.... I'm also mainly about the Transformers collecting, I'm a huge fan of animal based transformers as inspired by the g1 episode 'Call of the Primatives', which was the only episode I had on VHS as a kid. (Hence the username.) |
