The Toyark has received the answers to questions we submitted for the Hasbro 2010 Marvel Q&A for June:
1) We’ve seen 2 different styles of articulation used for movie lines(Iron Man 2/XMO Wolverine), and the Marvel Universe(the one fans seem to prefer here at Toyark) line. Going forward, has one of those styles of articulation been deemed definitive, or will future 3-3/4″ Marvel movie lines like Captain America/Thor for example, use the articulation seen in the movie(Wolverine, Iron Man 2) lines? With the recent images of an XMO Wolverine figure in a Marvel Universe 6 pack overseas, and revelation that Team X Wolverine is a repaint from the XMO Wolverine line, fans are worried, as they prefer Marvel Universe style articulation.
A) We don’t have a single approach to articulation. It differs from Universe to the movie lines, and even from movie to movie; based on what is appropriate for the character or line.
2) We’ve noticed that the Marvel Universe line has a mix of designs from The Ultimates with current costumes. These designs are also used in the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games, and games have commanded a much larger media presence than in years past.. Are video games a heavier influence on character design and roster more than classic designs?
A) This is coincidental. We don’t rely on video games for styling direction in MU.
3) Do the iconic Sentinels(which could be repainted/retooled into Mastermold) command the same presence as the upcoming 19 inch Galactus in the upcoming Marvel Masterworks subline of Marvel Universe?
A) Nothing compares to Marvel Masterworks Galactus… he has made it so.
We also sent word to Hasbro that the fans here wanted a comic accurate version of Iron Patriot, this was after they asked the following:
Hasbro) We decided to use the “carded deco” on Iron Patriot because we have already featured him in numerous comic stylings. Is this a variant you were hoping to see? Let us know!
The Toyark) The fans at Toyark responded that yes they do want a comic accurate Iron Patriot.
Hasbro’s response?
A) Regarding Iron Patriot; the version we’ve included in the line is one of many subtle variations of Iron Patriot from the comics.
