MattyCollector October Answers DELUXE Edition

By Shin Densetsu on October 3, 2011 at 9:49 pm under Toyark Spotlight

Alright folks, due to New York Comic Con later this month, the MattyCollector crew won’t be having Q&A answers for October 15th. However we’ve gotta get questions for November 1st in by October 15th, so feel free to post your questions now!

Anyways, last month we submitted a set of questions for both rounds but didn’t receive our 1st set of answers-until now! So we’ve got 10 questions and answers for you right here!

With the “New 52” having already started, which do we have a higher chance of seeing 1st in the DCUC line, Dick Grayson Batman or the “new” Bruce Wayne Batman?

You’ll have to stay tuned for our announcements and reveals!

The poll for the Infinite Earths subscription exclusive winner was Metron. Does this exclude the others included in the poll from being made, or was the poll to decide which of these figures was going to be the subscription membership exclusive, while the rest were planned for full club release?

The poll decided the figure that would be the club exclusive. The other oversized figures could come to life as the oversized offering in 2012 or in the future.

Since DCUC as we know it is ending at retail, and being continued in the form of the Infinite Earths subscription club, have we seen the last of the two-packs that served as a popular way to reissue older or rare figures? Would such sets, like Mad Love continue on as store exclusives as they have, or would sets of new characters continue on as matty exclusives, such as the Color of Fear was? Or are they done, altogether?

We are planning some 6″ multi-packs for retail for 2012, so be on the lookout for those packs next year!

Since DCUC has started to incorporate double jointed knees and elbows, will those joints be incorporated in future Batman Legacy Movie Masters?

The Legacy figures in Spring 2012 will continue to have the same articulation as they have in 2011.

What has a higher chance of making its way to retail sooner, Dick Grayson as Batman, or the redesigned Bruce Wayne Batman from the “New 52”?

We know that fans love Batman, so both of those choices are on the table!

We realize that the 80’s MOTU designs are classic and therefore more memorable, but is there a specific reason why the 2002 designs will not be homaged? Those were arguably some of the Horsemen’s best sculpts, and seeing them fully articulated is a dream for some fans.

The Classics line is a new design for the MOTU brand. Both 200X and Classics are different interpretations of the same original vintage toys, but Classics is separate from the 200X look. You will see some “classic-sized” versions of 200X weapons and armor in the Classic line, but not direct 200X sculpts with the unique design look for 200X that is now retired.

For fans on a budget who want a COMBINING Voltron and cannot afford the 23 inch Club Lion Force Voltron, will there be a more affordable, transformable alternative? The 6″ SDCC Voltron is affordable but cannot combine, and let’s face it, the fun in Voltron for many fans IS the combination aspect!

We have a lot more exciting Voltron product in the works. Nothing to announce right now but stsy tuned!

Are the Voltron Force 3-3/4″ figures a template of future DC Infinite Heroes figures should the DCIH line return someday?

Currently they are not a template for any future line, other than Voltron. They were created specifically for this universe and will remain there since they are unique sculpts and not common tooled, like the DCU figures.

How many scales will be used for the Voltron Classics line? So far we’ve seen the 6″ figure from SDCC, and the upcoming 2.5ft tall Club Lion Force Voltron.

Currently those are the only 2 scales we are planning on doing for the Voltron Classic product. Down the line who knows…What other scales would the fans like to see???

With the WWE line already going for almost 2 years now, do you think the time is right to implement pectoral articulation into the Elite and Legends figures? It would make posing them in submission moves substantially easier.

We have been thinking about pectoral articulation for a while now, but it poses a few challenges. For one it is more expensive, and we are doubtful most people will want to pay extra for it. Since we have so many unique torsos (especially in Elite) upgrading them all would be a massive investment. Also, we have caught a lot of flack from collectors that don’t like the loss of detail from the ab crunch. While we have no intention of taking the ab crunch out, we know that adding the pec movement would break up the flow of the figure. It is a tradeoff between appearance and movement. So it would be unlikely for all of the figures to switch over, but perhaps in the future we will do a line or sub segment with the added articulation
