every year, Hasbro sticks Wolverine into one of its waves and we either love it or hate it. year 1 we had X-Force Wolvie, which was loved since it was the first wolverine figure in the series. Year 2 we had Team X Wolverine and Jim Lee Uniform Wolverine which were mostly seen with anger. Year 3 we have first appearance and the oh so epic Astonishing Wolverine
Next year we know what Spidey and Thor we are getting. theres still a chance Ironman could get another main wave release, but this is about Wolverine. So which Wolverine do you think we'll get next year? lol. I'm hoping for Bone Claw Savage Wolverine from Onslaught. atleast it would be different. bone claws and bandana mask. could even do a head swap to get early post fatal attractions. sound off! |

how about his really modern costume. i.e his current one, with the x symbol by his left shoulder. or maybe so slightly obscure with his house of m garb. also we dont have an ultimate xmen costume yet so theres that.

what if they did the leather age Wolverine? Infact his jacket could be imitation and removable so suddenly you have the leather age x-men jacket. still used on ocation

Unless they create a new mold, I'm probably set. I'm still not sure what's so great about Astonishing Wolvie, to be honest. I guess that's just people's favorite Wolvie outfit because it's just a repaint.

There was a thread on 2012 speculation but not Wolverine speculation. Next there will be 2012 speculation for Magneto, Thor and Captain Britain.
Word up.

There's Age of Apocalypse, the leather jacket uniform, Ultimate Wolverine's multiple costumes, devolved bone claw wolverine, bone claw wolverine, maskless wolverine, Death, the brown leather jacket wolvie, and of course, carded versions of his tiger stripe and brown costumes. (It's been 3 years since they came out)

What I like is when they fake out merchants by labeling other characters as A-listers, like they did with "Dark Spider-Man" and "Dark Wolverine" 2-pack. They should do an Albert like that and another Daken with a mohawk.

That was about the sequel to X Men Origins: Wolverine specifically, this is about Wolverine figures in general.

They're not "faking out" the merchants. For starters, those are the names of the characters when they were on that team. They don't need to "fake out" anybody. It's not like Toys R Us is sitting at Hasbro headquarters saying "No, you can't make this figure, we only want Spider-man". And it's not like they buy the cases based on who's in them. They buy the cases because other cases have sold out.

Maybe a version where you can see that he has a healing factor. It could sort of look like some of the Terminator figures out there. Show some flesh and adamantium.

And like I said there, I'll say it again here: They need to do more varied wolverines that are obscure to cover this time. Stuff like: Albert and Elsie Dee Old Man Logan Apocalypse Wolverine Horseman Death Wolverine AoA Wolverine Ultimate Wolverine Bone Claw Bandana Onslaught Wolverine And then balance it with more nods from the comic side characters like: Academy X X-23 (Preferably as a comic pack with Messiah Complex Deathstrike) Messiah Complex Lady Deathstrike (Preferably as a comic pack with New X-Men/Academy X X-23) Cyber Modern Daken Romulus Astonishing Emma Frost to parallel the first movie's Astonishing Cyclops release. Omega Red Silver Samurai Single Carded (same as two pack release) Uncanny X-Force Archangel X-Force Wolfsbane in Wolfed out form. (Looks more demonic in the modern x-force wolfed out gear, and fits with the japan oni theme because of it.) A Shiva Unit Ultimate Nimrod Mostly, stick to comics that are wolverine heavy in references, or use wolverine family. Finish up the Wolverine Origins figures with Cyber, Daken, Omega Red, A Shiva Unit, and Romulus, and then cover some X-Force, Uncanny X-Force, Ultimate, and Messiah Complex to wrap it up. Extra respect if they manage to work AoA Jean Grey in there. Then toss in the movie line stuff like: Movie Silver Samurai Movie Yuriko in kimono or geisha outfit (depends which is more dominant in the movie) The Wolverine Logan with logan in a training outfit, or samurai outfit, whatever is used in the movie for key scenes. The jacketed wolverine from the first movie line re-released again with a sword and the jacket black(with yellow shoulder stripes) instead of brown and light brown stripes. It was a kickass first movie mold, and deserves to be used again. A basic army builder bad guy. Whatever's dominant in the movie. (Ninjas, Yakuza, whatever) If need be, the Yakuza can be a new Suited buck, which can be used for a new logan in tux, daken in tux, or the ninjas can just be recolored hand ninja's from MU. Then the rest can just be whatever filler or parts swapping can be made from who all is left. Maybe even toss in a horseman Death Gambit figure for more mold re-usage, as well as a single carded Mr. Sinister. This gives us more variety, and hits almost all the key characters people will want as well as keeps the movie universe fans covered too. It'd also greatly expand the molds available for MU. The New X-Men/Academy X femal Buck in particular can be reused later for Pixie among others. Just like some of the others can be reused again later like lady deathstrikes hands for a classic variant. If they overdo the movie wolverines, the line won't move. They need to cover stuff that's eye catching for kids, and perfect for fans. Wolverine figures that are fun and varied without being gimmicky like scuba dive wolverine, or similiar. Last edited by Snowflakian; 10-26-2011 at 02:27 PM.. |

All I was saying was, putting a order form that has a character named "Albert" in front of a buyer is not going to generate as much ordering as naming that character "Robot Wolverine". |

That's not how the figures are ordered, though. They don't go through and cherry pick which comic packs they're going to buy. They say "Hey, this line is selling well, we're going to keep buying more cases." At best you could argue that small shops might be swayed by names, but frankly, they don't amount to squat next to the major retailers. And the major retailers could care less whose name is on the package, as long as the line has been selling well. (Barring some outliers like "Hellboy", for instance) At no point in the production process is "faking out the merchants" a consideration in naming. |
