Well, this could be very interesting. Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Mattel is suing Donald Glut. Who is Donald Glut? Well, he is the man who worked with Mattel and created the original back story for He-Man and the Masters of the Universe toys in the 1980’s. And he is apparently looking to regain the copyrights he claims to hold. Mattel asserts that this was a strictly “work for hire” scenario (meaning Mattel would own it), while glut claims his work was licensed by Mattel. The results could potentially be disastrous for Mattel if Glut can prove his work was licensed and not a work for hire.
