Robocop 2014 – 4 Inch (Black and Silver) Gallery

By Tony_Bacala on December 30, 2013 at 10:38 am under Random Photo Shoot, Robocop Toy News

Jada Toys Robocop Line continues to trickle out to the masses and today we have a quick gallery for their 4 inch Robocop 2014 figures. The 4 inch line offers both the Silver 1.0 and the Black 3.0 versions of the new Robocop, just like the 6 inch wave does. Between mid November and late December the 1.0 Silver has been very difficult to get a hold of due to it’s throwback to the original Robocop style, but we managed to snatch one up. Check out our thoughts on the figures and over 30 images after the break!

The figures are completely different molds even though they look similar. They have the same amount of articulation, which is average and about right for a 6.99 figure these days. Horizontal movement on the neck, 45 degrees of movement in the shoulder in all directions (a bit more for the black one), 45 degree in the elbow if you’re lucky. Hip is on a ball joint giving you full front to back movement and a slight horizontal pop. Knees are 45 degrees as well. No chest, abs, waist, wrist or ankle articulation. They stand in line with most modern G.I. Joes, a bit smaller in height. But definitely fits in, can work in cross-genre dios or for customs.

The Jada Toys Robocop line is a double edged sword. They look great from a distance, but when you get your hands on them, you start running into issues. With mine in particular – the legs were different lengths on both of them. Only slightly on the black one, but the Silver 1.0 version looked like he needed prescription shoes to address a childhood issue. Not 100% sure, but seems like there is an issue with the knees, one was either inserted into the upper leg a bit too much, or the other not enough. The end result is a very lopsided figure, unable to stand straight up. An action pose can hide the issue, but it’s a shouldn’t be like that. Paint apps are also all over the place, so if you see one in the store, look closely before grabbing. The red line on the visor is a problem point, at least half of the figures I’ve seen online and in stores have a messy red line. Normally I don’t care about a splotch here and there, but on the sliver one in particular, really bothersome to me. The Silver 1.0 also has black paint apps to go along with the (pretty nice) metallic silver paint, so there can be run-over all over the figure. Mine has some, others have none. Again, just check in the package as much as you can.

Overall, if you get a hold of a figure with minimal paint problems and no assembly issues with the leg height, these would be pretty nice 4 inch figures. Not Modern Era G.I. Joe level, but, a solid representation of Robocop that can work in with other 3.75/4 inch figures on a shelf. And relatively cheap too. I’m hoping that this line gets re-ups as the movie hits and the 1.0 becomes easier to find. If that happens, I’ll definitely be re-buying the 1.0 with hopes of addressing the sloppy issues I had with this one. So, thumbs up with caution. :) Enjoy the pics below!
