The Walking Dead Minimates still remain the best way to collect figures of all the comic based characters. With the series 5 assortment, Diamond Select Toys is moving into more current characters from the comic series. Series 5 Toys “R” Us Assortment marks the end of the Prison series of figures, and adds some major staple characters, including Eugene and Abraham.the entire Toys “R” Us and Comic Shop breakdown is:

While this assortment gives us two more versions of Rick Grimes and Michonne, they are two unique versions. This gives us our first Michonne with riot gear, as well as a new variation of Rick without his hand. I believe there have been two previous versions, with one being a harder to find San Diego Comic-Con exclusive. We also get the long awaiting arrival of Eugene Porter and Abraham Ford, two characters who are very popular, central to the ongoing stories and were just introduced on the TV series.

As with all Minimates, there’s no shortage of parts, pieces and accessories to wage war against your undead legions. Rick can be displayed with an included jacket, or in a t-shirt, both of which feature prominently in the stories. Michonne comes decked out in the riot gear, but that can be swapped out for a tank top torso piece. Eugene and Abraham feature a single wardrobe. Also included is a figure stand for each character. Keep in mind that Michonne’s feet contain very shallow peg holes. they don’t stop her from attaching to the base, but it will take a bit of extra pressure to have it sit tightly on the stand. The included Walkers all feature a unique design. Between the Comic Shop and TRU assortments, there is only one duplicate design for this wave, and they are both part of the comic shop sets. The Emaciated Walker is especially cool, as the arms are super thin, giving it a unique look among the standard Minimates arm design. The detachable spilled intestines from the Military Walker can also be applied to any Minimate for added gore effects.

Overall, it’s another great series. It mixes older and newer characters in as well as a new set of Walkers for your ranks. Definitely worth tracking down when they hit shelves this month. Check out a few highlighted images below, with the full 105+ image gallery after that.
