Toyark sponsor Entertainment Earth had one of the Bif Bang Pow! Big Bang Theory 3.75″ Figures for sale at San Diego Comic-Con. The Con Exclusive Sheldon Cooper Retro Style 3.75″ Figure featured a DC Comics Hawkman T-Shirt. It comes on a blister card back, which unfolds to form a diorama of Sheldon’s office. This is the first in their line of 3.75″ Big Bang Theory Figures. Upcoming figures include Leonard, Howard, Raj, Penny, Bernadette, and Amy. There will also be four additional Sheldon‘s in assorted DC Comics T-Shirts. Check out over 20 photos after the jump.

Overall

This is a decent first entry into the Big Bang Theory figure line. Fans of Kenner style figures who like the show should enjoy the figure. It hits all the “retro” marks with the five points of articulation and a slightly exaggerated, yet simplified, head sculpt. It still manages to look like Jim Parrsons, the actor who portrays Sheldon on the Big Bang Theory.

The paint application, however, is a bit troubling. The neck and shirt had two very noticeable paint scratches right out of the package. I’m chalking this up to an anomaly, as other galleries I’ve seen, as well as the Big Bang Theory figures on display at San Diego Comic-Con, had much tighter paint jobs. The packaging turns into a diorama for the figure, which is great in theory. In Practice, the cardboard is a bit flimsy, causing the cardboard to warp a bit. The printing is a tad dark on the diorama as well. That may be intentional to make the figure pop a bit as the Sheldon figure is brightly colored. On the shelf it looks fine if you don’t mess with it too much.

In the end, this will really only appeal to those who collect retro figures and like Big Bang Theory enough to pick up the figures. I happen to fit that profile, and if you do as well, just be wary of the paint and you should be good.
