Toyark Gallery - Walking Dead Daryl Dixon with Motorcycle Building Set - The Toyark

Earlier today we posted a gallery showcasing the fantastic The Governor’s Room – Walking Dead Building Set. Now I’d like to share the second of three galleries. This one showcases the Daryl Dixon with Motorcycle. As with all of The Walking Dead Building Sets, this is a Toys “R” Us Exclusive. This is also the smallest, and least expensive, of the main sets available. The set includes a highway base, Daryl Dixon, a motorcycle and a Walker.

Overall
The Governor’s Room, in my opinion, was a near flawless starting point for McFarlane. The overall set, build quality and scene were fantastic. With this one, the overall quality is on par, but there are a few issues that creep in. Let’s start with the good. This is an even easier set to assemble than The Governor’s Room. Shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes or so to snap this all together. The quality of the pieces, is again, top notch. The road, dirt, sign and guard rails feature some really fantastic details. It makes an easy diorama for just about any brick scaled figure (LEGO Minifigs, Kreons, Minimates, etc.). The bike features some nice detail touches. From the set to the headlights to the different wheel builds for front and back, the small details add up to a great looking piece. Daryl and the Walker are also sculpted well. For such a small sculpt, the likeness to actor Norman Reedus is pretty spot on.

On the down side, the motorcycle can be a fickle piece. The bike feature two small pipe pieces to simulate the exhaust system. While they are a nice detail, they don’t really connect all that well. A slight bump to the motorcycle will tend to knock one or both those pieces off. If you don’t plan on ever taking these apart, then I suggest a touch of adhesive to hold them in place. The included grass pieces look amazing, but have a tendency to fall out. Also, the overall scene lacks the impact of The Governor’s Room. While that set chose a striking visual from the show (as well as the comics), this one is a fairly tranquil moment.

In the end, this is a good set, though. It’s not quite up to the level of The Governor’s Room set, but it’s still a worthy companion piece. Also, as future sets are released, the pieces from this one will likely make great add-ons to those sets (especially Dale’s RV).
