The newly released Aliens Minimates were a long time coming. It seems like we first glimpsed these figures ages ago. With the first series now available, it looks like that wait really paid off with some crazy good figures. The first series is being offered in an all new way as Diamond Select Toys released a counter friendly display. The display offers single packed figures in small window boxes, as opposed to 2-packs. Doing this allowed for DST to get these Minimates into retail establishments that would not normally carry them. The set features three human characters and three different Alien Xenomorphs. Here’s the breakdown:
- Carter Burke X1
- Dropship Pilot Spunkmeyer X1
- Colonial Marine Mike Wierzbowski X1
- Alien Warrior X4
- Attacking Alien Warrior X3
- Battle Damaged Alien Warrior X2
Diamond Select Toys sent along a full case for us to photograph and review. We have over 80 photos of the set. Read on to check out the images and my review.

Overall
What a great way to kick off DST’s Alien Series Minimates. Fans are going to want to troop build those Alien Warriors, and these single boxed figures are a great way to do that. They’re priced at $5.99 each (BBTS has a case of 12 for just $60), so it won’t break the bank to pick up a few of these at a time. They were also smart with character selection, in my opinion. Carter Burke is likely going to be the hardest figure to find. He’s the lone “main” character in the display, but he’s not so essential to elicit frustration if he’s hard to find. By stacking the display full of assorted Aliens, it kicks the line off with troop builders in mind.
Speaking of the Aliens, there are three different versions. The main Alien Warrior is the most abundant of the three, with the Attacking Alien Warrior next and the Battle Damaged being available in the smallest quantities. The sculpted details on the Alien Warriors is amazing. DST has never been afraid to go beyond the base Minimates pieces to get a character right, and with the Aliens, they’re almost barely Minimates. The heads, chests, back, arms, and feet are all new sculpts. Each piece has movie accurate features or subtle painted details. The human figures also come off very well. While Spunkmeyer may look like a generic pilot figure, Burke and Wierzbowski come in with nice nods to the on screen versions. Wierzbowski, especially, has some great accessories including a pulse rifle, a removable marine helmet and armored chest.
The Aliens Minimates Series 1 are a great success, and now available at comic and specialty shops. With Aliens Series 2 (which will give us Ripley, Newt, an Egg and a chestburster) and the Alien 35th Anniversary Sets on the horizon, I can’t wait to see what else DST has in store.
