Toyark Gallery - Walking Dead Minimates Series 6 - The Toyark

With the release of The Walking Dead Minimates Series 6, we begin to get figures based on some of the more recent story lines in the comics. Series 6 introduces us to the survivors as they make their home in the Alexandria safe zone. The surviving people in Alexandria are lead by Douglas Monroe, a former Senator, who does what he can to give his followers a normal life inside the walls. Series 6 also gives us returning characters such as Rick and Michonne, and a great version of Carl Grimes. Here’s the full series 6 breakdown:

Comic Spoilers. Beware. For the most part, this review will be quick. We all know what to expect with Walking Dead Minimates, such as articulation, packaging, assortments, etc. The introduction of the Alexandria survivors in the comics sets off the events that introduce these characters to a larger world. Many of the characters we meet in and around Alexandria becomes pivotal to who has lived and died. So I was thoroughly excited when these were originally shown off at Toy Fair earlier this year. The figures found here are all from the comic shop assortment which was released a couple of weeks ago.

Of the figures released in this wave, Carl Grimes may be the best. He may also be one of the best values in Walking Dead Minimates so far. You get a regular face as well as his bandaged “missing eye” face, a regular hair attachment and his sheriff’s hat, guns, a backpack, and pieces for a jacket or t-shirt look. You could spend hours going through the assorted looks for that character. The Walkers this round are also quite nice. The burning Walker included with Carl has a great flame attachment that can be used on any Minimate. Each character also includes weapons and figure stands. The characters all feature beautifully applied paint and fine detailing. None of the outfits hinder movement or articulation.

The only downside I can see is that some fans may not want/need any additional Rick’s or Michonne’s. But the designs here are well translated. I eagerly anticipate the other characters we’ll see from this story line. Rosita and Father Gabriel have been announced for a Toys “R” Us Assortment, and fans are surely looking forward to characters like Negan, Dwight, and Ezekiel.
