Toyark Photo Shoot - NECA Video Game 8-Bit Batman - The Toyark

Toyark sponsor Entertainment Earth has provided us with a NECA NES Style Batman 7″ Scale Figure and we have a full gallery for your enjoyment. The figure is part of NECA’s growing Video Game Series of figures. This is also the first original sculpt in the series, with the prior releases all being repaints of existing figures. I originally shot this and had the review ready prior to the announcement of the Movie Accurate 7″ Scale NECA Batman being released. When this was announced, I was pretty shocked. Doing 7″ scale DC Comics characters seemed like an impossibility due to Mattel holding the master toy license for that scale. They claimed many times on Twitter and Facebook that they were just as shocked as we were that they were given the okay to do this. Until yestersay, they also swore that we would never see a movie accurate version of this mold, but they shocked us all again with that announcement.

The Batman NES video game was, for it’s time, one of the best super hero games made. It features pretty stellar 8-bit graphics, a memorable soundtrack and a story that followed the film (though loosely). I still have fond memories of playing through the game as a kid (and adult) and bopping along to the soundtrack. So when this was announced, I could not wait to grab it. The figure comes in a window box with a flap. It mimics the original NES packaging perfectly. It includes a backdrop from the opening stage of the game. Batman is painted in shades of purple and blue to portray the look of the in-game sprite. Also included are two additional interchangeable hands, a grapnel gun and a Batarang. Batman features a cloth cape as well.

The figure really does feel like a shrunken version of their amazing 18″ Michael Keaton Batman figure. It shares the same level of detail throughout. The cowl has a nice sandstone texture to it, and the different pieces of armor have their own textures. The figure features some great articulation, including ab crunch, though the armor hinders that just slightly. Arms and legs both feature multiple swivel joints and the feet have articulated ankles. The only articulation downfall is that the head cannot turn without turning the entire cowl piece, making it look a little silly when the emblem shifts.
