DC Collectibles Designer Series Mr. Freeze

DC Collectibles next wave of Designer Series figures are here with round two of Greg Capullo’s Batman. Wave 1 consisted of Batman, Nightwing, The Riddler and Talon. Wave 2 sees a Red Hood, Mr. Freeze, Catwoamn, and Thrasher Batman (mech suit). Red Hood has been out for a bit but we haven’t picked him up yet, so he’s coming later. Today though we do have an early look at Mr. Freeze and Catwoman, with Mr. Freeze getting the full run down after the break. Read on for 30 high res shots and our thoughts!

Overall
The Designer Series from DCC has been a welcome addition to the shelves. They are a bit stylized, which is the point – aside from that they are a real step up for DC Collectibles in the articulation department. Each one is a bit different, but Mr. Freeze for example has head, rotating shoulders, upper bicep, single joint elbow, wrist rotation and lateral, ab-crunch, T-like crotch, upper thigh swivel, double jointed knees, front/back ankle. That’s a pretty good offering, considering you are also getting a great sculpt, above average paint(flat-ish, matte) and weathering, comic accuracy, 7 inches, window box, and it’s under 25 bucks.

The look, especially for Batman, has thrown some collectors off, but it’s growing on me. Posing these guys up for the group shots (seen in the next gallery for Catwoman) really shows how well they can pop on a shelf. So, I do recommend him – just for the fact you can move his head inside the helmet! That’s a rare occurrence for Mr. Freeze, if not the first time (I’m not versed in the legacy of Freeze :) ). He should be out at your local comic shops and online retailers in December 2014!
