NECA has delivered on a item that no one thought would be possible. After the release of their Batman NES Figure, they claimed that this was a one-off item that they were lucky enough to be able to release. But they worked out a deal with Warner Bros. to bring fans a movie accurate 7″ Scale Batman 1989 Figure, thought it would only be available with the purchase of a Batman 1989 Blu-Ray. Originally released on Ebay, the figure and Blu-Ray combo is now available at Toys “R” Us Stores.
After the jump, check out our gallery for the figure, as well as a quick review.
Batman 1989 Exclusive 7″ Figure
Pros
- Excellent sculpt
- Excellent version of Keaton Batman
- Strong articulation
- Classic style packaging is a nice throwback
- Includes extra hands and accessories
Cons
- Not likely to get any other NECA 7″ scale figures from the movie
Overall
Check out my review of the NES Batman for a more detailed overview of the sculpt. I’ll keep this pretty short. The figure is near perfect. The colors are dead on, the likeness is unmistakable, and the retro packaging is a great touch. The figure features full articulation and a cloth caper. It includes two sets of interchangeable hands, a Batarang, and a grapnel gun.
The movie accurate paint job highlights the excellent sculpt. The black has a matte, near vinyl finish to it on the costume. the gauntlets and boots feature a much shinier paint job. The cloth cape picks up dust particles like crazy, so keep that in mind when displaying it. Some fans have remarked that their eyes have had poor paint applications, but that looks to be only in some cases. The version I received was fine. There’s not much more to say. This is the figure fans were hoping for when the NES Batman was revealed, and it’s every bit as good as it should be.
