DST Legendary Marvel Super-Heroes Spider-Man Collector Set Photo Shoot

Diamond Select Toys is releasing classic “Mego” style figures under the “Legendary Marvel Super Heroes” name. They’ve put out collector sets which feature a core figure but with extra outfits, accessories and heads so you can customize the figure to your tastes. We got our hands on the Spider-Man Collector Set which gives you two different looks for Spidey, a Peter Parker get up, and some bonus accessories. Read on to check out some shots and our quick thoughts!

Overall
This was a fun set to run through. I was born in the 70s, child of the 80s (toys). I had some Megos in the early years, but not many. Hulk and Spidey if I recall correctly. I haven’t touched one in over 30 years tho probably. Futzing around with this immediately brought back some memories. The springy arms, big plastic head, cloth suits – all felt as I remembered. The combo pack is nice because you get a bunch of extras so you can display Spidey how you like, give him a Spidey Belt and external web-slingers, or have Peter Parker reading the paper. The package was extremely well put together, displayed well in box, large retro artwork on the back. Unfortunately everything was glued in place so the only way to get it all out was to scalpel it and still not truly save it, or rip into it. The inner magazine reminds me of old ToyFare magazine features and is very well done. Overall hats off to the people and Mego fans that put this project together. For those into this style of figure, you should enjoy it and the others that are coming. Check out some shots below!

Please note, I am aware the Peter Parker’s vest should have gone over his white “shirt”. Since this set is geared towards customizers, I made that shirt a “jacket” so he’d be more pimp with his collar popped. I did not mistakenly put his clothes on wrong and only realize right before posting the story.
