Toyark Gallery – Maxx Zero Basic and Unpainted Editions

By Joe Moore on February 10, 2015 at 10:28 am under Random Photo Shoot, Robot and Mecha Toy News

We continue our week of Toyfinity photo shoots with the second part of our Maxx Zero photo shoot. Today we take a look a the other two Robo Force releases; Maxx Zero Basic Edition and Maxx Zero Unpainted Edition. The Basic Edition is the pure homage to the original Maxx Steele Robo Force figure. the Unpainted Edition was a way for Toyfinity to offer fans a way to customize their Robo Force kit from top to bottom.

After the jump, check out my thoughts on these two as well as the full gallery.

Toyfinity Toys – Maxx Zero Basic Edition and Maxx Zero Unpainted Edition

Pros

  • Basic Edition is a great nostalgia piece
  • Got that “Commadore 64” gray just right
  • Tight pegs all around
  • Unpainted Edition looks really good in all white

Cons

  • Pegs and holes need to be heated before swapping parts

Overall
Like the Ultimate Edition Maxx Zero, Toyfinity really went for it with the Basic Edition. While the Ultimate version went for a more reimagined look, the Basic version is meant to be the all new version of the original Maxx. The colors are pretty much spot on. The odd “Commadore 64” style gray is not an easy color to reproduce, so it was cool to see it turn out so well. This version does not feature the painted detail lines seen in the Ultimate version, which, when side-by-side, give it a great new vs old look.

With the Unpainted Edition, they put out a figure that is in all pure white. This was to give their fans a chance to create a completely custom Robo Force design from top to bottom. I left min all white for two reasons. The first being I think the all white looks unique and makes for a great “prototype” or unforged edition. The second reason is I’m not a customizer and didn’t want to wreck the figure.

The joints on both are nice and tight. They hold their poses well. As in the Ultimate version, be sure to use a hair dryer to heat up those pegs and peg holes. Once swapped a few times, they become much easy to change out.

These two , along with Ultimate Maxx, give us the best wave so far. I hope to see more Basic and Ultimate Editions in the future, as I think fans are really digging these versions.
