NECA is on an astonishing 13th wave of the Predator series of figure. There’s no sign of slowing down as they keep giving fans exciting new takes on the galactic hunters. The series 13 figures are all based on designs from the classic Kenner Predator toyline. These include the Scavage Predator, the Cracked Tusk Predator and the subject of today’s gallery; the Renegade Predator. The figure includes weapons based on the original Kenner figure as well.

Overall
My first experience with NECA’s Predator line was the NES Predator Classic Video Game Figure. That was a fantastic looking figure in its own right. So I come into Series 13, fairly fresh into the Predator line. The figure comes packaged on a blister card. The cardback itself is a throwback to the old Kenner packaging design. There’s a single twist tie to dispose of, and the weapons come on their own tray. After opening the figures, I think the Renegade Predator is probably my favorite of the three.
The figure itself stands at roughly 9″ tall, fitting in with NECA’s other 7″ scale figure. The sculpt, articulation and weapons are all great. I expected to have some hindrance with the articulation due to the armor, but was surprised at how much range I could get out of the arms and legs. The legs, especially, have a surprising amount of movement. The figure is surprisingly sturdy, which is nice, especially since the figure is very top heavy. The hip movement and shin swivels help to balance the poses. I really like that he can hold the blade weapon with both hands and can even do a few poses while doing so. The shoulder cannon armor piece is removable and the gun itself his a fair bit of movement. The head has a double jointed neck joint, allowing you to pose the figure staring down at a fallen opponent.
In the end, I started with my favorite of what are three very good figures. The green paint, the super detailed sculpt and the full range of articulation make this a fantastic figure. If you’re into the Predator line, then you likely have this ordered or in your possession already. If not, then the Kenner homages make for a great stating point.
