The King of The Monsters rises again with NECA‘s newest Godzilla figure. The figure, a repaint of their Godzilla vs Space Godzilla figure, features a great fan favorite color scheme. In Godzilla vs Destroyah, our favorite kaiju is on the verge of a catastrophic nuclear meltdown in the final Heisei series film. Toyark sponsor Entertainment Earth has provided us with the figure and we have a full gallery showcasing the figure.

Overall
I’m a big fan of NECA’s 6″ tall Godzilla figures. I’ve already grabbed the previous releases and couldn’t wait to get this one as well. While some of the sculpted details on the original figure weren’t entirely film accurate, the figure was still loaded with articulation and a beautifully detailed sculpt. Godzilla vs Destroyah featured a really cool take on the character and the glowing, volatile Godzilla from the film presented an amazing visual throughout.
NECA did a really nice job translating that to the figure. The orange, red and yellow “burning” paints have a nice, slightly translucent look to them. When the light hits them just right, the colors really pop. These brighter colors help the details to really stand out, as it makes the further color washes of subtle blues and greens to create a starker contrast in appearance. As before, the figure has a nice weight to it, and features plenty of great articulation. The figure features fully articulated hands, toso, legs and tail. the head has an articulated jaw as well. Overall, there’s about 30 points of articulation, so you’ll have no shortage of poses you can put the figure in.
Unfortunately, there is a bit of a issue with my version. The head was not on the ball joint inside the package (which is why I didn’t photograph packaging pics). The head popped back on easily enough, but it doesn’t seem to want to stay completely on there. I did wind up taking a hair dryer to both the joint and the socket, and that seems to have given a better fit. By no means a deal breaker, it’s just something to be aware of when shopping. If you see one like this, know that the head can be popped back on. For comparison sake, the other joints were pretty tight with no issues.
In the end, I’m pretty happy with the figure. It’s a far superior color scheme (to me anyway) compared to the first release. It’s still has a lot of value for its $18 – $20 price tag and looks great with the other figures.
