Godzilla: Monster of Monsters! is a video game released in 1989 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The game, created by Toho, featured Godzilla and Mothra teaming up to battle creatures from Planet X. While not considered a good game, it featured appearances by plenty of Toho kaiju, such as Ghidorah, Mechagodzilla, and Gigan.
In continuing their top selling Video Game Appearance series of figures, NECA was able to capture the look of Godzilla from the game. They used their Godzilla 1985 figure as the base and even crafted new pieces to go with it. Today we have a gallery and review of the figure, which came from Toyark sponsor Big Bad Toy Store.

Overall
Another very solid Classic Video Game figure from NECA. Sporting a game accurate box, the NES Godzilla fits right in with your existing VGA figures. The packaging, which featured a flapped window box looks fantastic and is collector friendly. It includes a well done backdrop based on one of the levels from the NES game. The figure is held in with a few twist ties, and you need to attach the tail.
Once out of the packaging the NES Godzilla is an excellent figure. It features newly sculpted fins on the back. These give Godzilla a more game accurate look. The paint is a blue-ish aqua, with pixelated style highlights and shadows.The color is nicely saturated and has a nice “pop” to it, especially as I shot it on a black backdrop.
The figure shares the same base mold as their Godzilla 1985 figure. What I said about the figure when I reviewed it in December:
There is a massive amount of articulation. Ball joints in the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, tail, and hips give it an amazing amount of movement. There’s plenty of standard joints as well, which add some sturdiness to a back heavy figure.
I experienced no issues with the figure. Joints were tight, paint never flaked, and had no quality control issues. If you’re into the VGA or Godzilla line from NECA, then this is a must buy.
