I know we’re running a tad late with this gallery. All the “fun” of life can get in the way of shooting. But I was finally able to put some solid time aside to bring a gallery of figures I have really been looking forward to. Check out my photo shoot of the Bif Bang Pow! Flash Gordon 3.75″ Series 1 Action Figures. The figures are based on the cult classic 1980 film, which saw football hero Flash Gordon transported to the Planet Mongo. There he teamed up with and unite scattered heroes to battle the evil Emperor Ming The Merciless. The figures are Entertainment Earth Exclusives and are available now.
Entertainment Earth sent along Series 1 for us to review. We have a full high resolution gallery after the jump. Read on to see the images as well as read my thoughts on the figures.

Overall
These are some of my favotire 3.75″ retro style figures since the Alien ReAction Series 1 figures. The license feels much more at home than many other lines getting this treatment. The sculpts are all really well done, with soft, but recognizable, likenesses. Flash, Vultan and Prince Barin can all hold their weapons without issue. Joints are all very solid, but may be a bit sticky, so handle with care when moving them for the first time. A little heat from a hair dryer will loosen them up in a few seconds if you do run into it. Both Prince Barin and Princess Aura include cloth capes. The capes are a silk-like material with a very small thread, which keeps them from being bulky and allows them to be more form fitting.
The figures offer more articulation than ReAction figures. Most have added elbow and knee joints, which is definitely welcome. Ming and Aura both forgo knee joints for stability purposes. Prince Barin and Vultan both had an issue, though. Each of the ones I received had a leg that was shorter than the other, making it a bit difficult to stand. Likely isolated incidents, but something to be aware of. The figures, otherwise, make for a really nice set. The Flash and Ming are different enough (especially the Ming) from the SDCC 2-Pack, so that they are worth grabbing as well. If and when they do series 2, I hope it includes a Klytus figure to add more spice to the villain ranks. They won’t entice fans looking for more modern takes, but if you’re a fan of Flash Gordon and retro figures, grab these for sure.
