The latest addition to NECA’s 12″ Head-To-Tail Godzilla line is the one that started it all; Godzilla 1954! The iconic film introduced the world to the King of the Monsters with a groundbreaking and amazing story of a giant, radioactive lizard that repeatedly attacks Japan. The film, as you know, kicked off numerous sequels, spin-offs, follow ups, reboots and more.
The 6″ tall Godzilla 1954 figure features about 30 points of articulation as well as a bendable tail. It has a black and white paint scheme to better represent his original appearance. We have a full high resolution gallery and review of the figure. You can check it out by reading on.

Overall
I was finally able to grab this figure over the past weekend and couldn’t wait to get into this shoot. Godzilla comes packaged in the same plastic cardback style as all of the previous Godzilla releases by NECA. The figure sits in a plastic tray with a few wist ties holding it in place. The tail must be attached, and that only takes a moment.
The 1954 Godzilla figure has an excellent sculpt all around. The head, especially, appears to be extremely accurate to the film. The head sculpt even has a bit of the asymmetrical features that were prominent on the original suit. The body has a very “man in suit” feel to it as the figure looks very weighted towards the lower half. It has the sags you would expect from a vintage kaiju suit. The feet are hilariously large, which is a really nice touch. There’s plenty of articulation to go around here, with nice movement in all the expected areas, including poseable hands. It’s really the paint scheme, though, that makes this figure stand out. NECA decided to forgo strong colors, opting for a more subdued black and white finish on it. However, it’s not completely devoid of color as the gray washes have a nice blue tint to them, which makes for a strong vintage appearance.
I didn’t run into any issues with the figure. The joints were all very solid, the sculpting is strong and the paint is superb. This is up there with the best they’ve done in the Godzilla line and is a must own.
