Diamond Select Toys continues their line of Godzilla Figure Banks with their newest release. The newest release is based on Godzilla‘s appearance in the 1974 film Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla. In the film, aliens create a mechanical Godzilla clone and set it loose in Japan. Godzilla comes to Earth’s defense, along with King Caesar (aka King Shisa) and the three titans battle it out in a massive brawl. The Godzilla 1974 bank stands at 10″ tall and measures 18″ from head to tail. It features a coin slot on the back and the head can be removed to empty any change out. It was sculpted by Gentle Giant.

Overall
The Godzilla 1974 bank comes packaged in a clear plastic bag. It features a nice, screen accurate sculpt. It has a lot of nice details throughout. The scales and fins looks pretty spot on to the film version. The statue features a subtle, blue-green paint scheme throughout. It feels almost like a black and white statue, though there are stronger bits of color in some spot. The nails feature a more saturate aqua color, and you can see pink gums in the mouth. The head pops off easily enough to get any coins out that you may put in there.
I enjoy these banks as they feel like nice quality, though much less expensive, statues. This one’s no different. It looks really nice with the other released Godzilla banks. I do wish the mouth wasn’t closed on the sculpt. Godzilla’s always look more menacing with an opened, roaring mouth. Other than that, this is a solid addition to the line up. It’s available now at comic and specialty shops.
