Diamond Select Toys has released their latest set of The Walking Dead Minimates to comic and specialty shops. Series 8 gives fans a mix of figures from the current and previous story arcs; “All-Out War” as well as “New Beginning“. The 2-packs are:
- Carl Grimes with Sophia
- Rosita with Father Gabriel
- Hilltop leader Gregory with Forest Zombie
- Hilltop leader Maggie Greene with Forest Zombie (1-per case)

Pros

Overall
Minimates always provide plenty of display and posing options. The great articulation makes them some of the most fun mini figures you can grab. The Walking Dead Minimates have given fans nearly every character they could want, and in nearly every memorable outfit. The newest assortment begins to bridge the gap between the last story arc and the current ongoing arc.
As with all Minimates, each 2-pack comes with an assortment of weapons and interchangeable parts. In some cases, like with Carl & Sophia, you get accessories that are specific to a memorable moment (if you read the comic, you know why he and Sophia include that shovel). DST has always been great at making their Walkers memorable. In this case, the Forest Walker includes swappable damaged and undamaged arms, two heads and a set of intestines to display him cut in half. This is especially handy as the Walker is included with both Gregory and Maggie, giving you the chance to have two distinct Walkers.
The only real negative here are some of the characters. Wave 7 gave us an amazing assortment of characters, so this wave was never going to top that. Sophia, Gregory and Father Gabriel are all fairly uninteresting (Sophia) or unlikable (Gregory & Gabriel) characters. However, the Walker and Carl are really two stand out pieces in this wave and the Maggie, if you can track her down, is a nice version of one of the best characters from the current story arc.
