DC Comics Icons Batman In-Hand Gallery

DC Icons have officially dropped and The Toyark is excited to jump into the new DC Collectibles line full steam ahead! DC Icons is DC Collectibles new all encompassing line, pulling from all versions of the DC Universe featuring high articulation, detailed sculpting, and quality paints – a true collector’s line from the start. The figures stand 6 inches tall, but that is a bit misleading if you are used to other lines like Marvel Legends or Star Wars Black Series. They run a tad smaller, more in line with SH Figuarts and Japanese import lines. So far though, they are beautiful figures executed perfectly. Overall
Overall, pretty damn good. On first glance, by themselves, the DC Comics Icons figures are perfect. A couple more articulation points here or there would be nice, but they are light years ahead of where DCC was and will get the job done for almost everyone. Us photographers and dio designers are probably the only ones who really need more. An up-down to go with the left-right on the wrists would be nice, especially if/when we get some folks with guns. The lack of thigh swivel makes it so you need to work the boot cut for dynamic leg poses. It works, but things look a bit out of wack when you look closely.

The size – that’s where I was a bit thrown off. Compared to previous 7 inch scale DCC, they are tiny. More proportional to a real human rather than a comic/superhero stylized body, and true 6 inch scale. That being said, they are also smaller than what most collectors consider “6 inch” today – Marvel Legends and/or Star Wars Black Series. Those have also downsized in recent years, and these are smaller than the current offerings. DCCI are between those and Japanese import figures like Figuarts or Mafex. A battle of the universes between DC and Marvel is still not going to properly happen on your shelves with this line.

All that aside, if you accept the size change and are down with jumping in on a new line, one that looks like it has legs to go long term, you’ll be happy. They already have 17 figures planned through 2nd Quarter 2016! The sculpt, paint, and articulation are all on point. They feel quality in the hand. Looking at them on a glance makes you go “damn”. You can pose them in a strong dead on stance or with some dynamic flare and they work either way. These are all the things I look for in a line, so I’m in.

Bottom line, other than size – perfect piece. Jump in now, especially with Batman, he’s already a bit hard to find at local comic shops.
