Right before Toy Fair, NECA debuted their new line of Dynamic Action Figure Stands. They allow you to pose and display your favorite figures in standing, dynamic action, jumping and flying poses. They are articulated with telescoping features. It comes with two interchangeable bases so you can display on both horizontal and vertical surfaces. The suction cup base can stick to windows, walls, doors, mirrors, and more. The Dynamic Action Figure Stands will work with figures ranging from 5″ to 10″ tall. They are due out in May and will retail for about $10 each.
NECA was gracious enough to send an advanced sample stand for us to check out. I put it through the paces and tried it out with a few different NECA figures. After the jump, you can check out my thoughts on the Dynamic Action Figure Stands. There are over 25 high resolution images as well.

Overall
This is not a final production piece. It’s not 100% final, but it’s pretty close. So keep that in mind while looking at the photos, as you may see a few air bubbles in the arm. The stand comes in four pieces. There are two bases, one for standing and a suction cup base to attach to wall or windows. The center piece can easily attach to either one. The center piece includes a telescoping feature. This allows you to adjust the height for larger or smaller figures. The arm has a clip that locks it into place, so it’s very sturdy regardless of the position. At the top of the arm is where the swivel piece is located. The clamp attachment fits onto the end, just above the swivel, of the telescoping arm. Here you can rotate it as you need based on the figure you are using it with.
Even for an early sample, this is a solid stand. Plastic quality is very good and I had no trouble adjusting it or holding poses with the figures. You can tighten or loosen the articulated spots with a hobby or small Phillips head screwdriver. Once I tightened it at an angle, the arm would not bend at all, even when I had a heavier Alien Xenomorph hovering in the air. I used a small piece of glass to attach the suction cup base to. I propped it up against my backdrop to photograph this. The suction cups held on nicely. It never felt loose and held every figure I used on it without trouble. The clamp worked well holding around the waist of the figures I used. However, I also tried clamping on the hips around one leg, as well as directly under the crotch of the figures to see how well it would hold up. Surprisingly, it held well in both scenarios, which will come in handy for jumping and hovering poses.
I’ve never been one for stands personally. I use them sparingly in my shoots. Mainly to keep a dynamic pose in place long enough to shoot it, or for a figure that may not sit well on my backdrop. So I was surprised at how enjoyable it was to shoot with this one. What sold me on it was the suction cup base. That I can see coming in handy in battle poses or for any flying characters. For figure stands, these new ones from NECA are pretty stellar.
