Back in February, we were one of the first sites to showcase the new Dynamic Action Figure Stands coming from NECA. The stand we were sent was a pre-production version. Now, the official Dynamic Action Figure Stands are on toy shelves. NECA sent along one of the final production stands for us to check out. We have 30 new high resolution photos showcasing the stand, as well as some comparison photos to the pre-production version. The new stand has a few significant changes made that improve the stand, making it sturdier.

Overall
When I first checked out the Dynamic Figure Stand, I was impressed with the flexibility it provided for posing. I was, and still am, most impressed with the suction cup base. I think that addition is what really makes it a worthwhile purchase. The stand comes on a retro style cardback. There are four pieces. Those are the standard base, the suction cup base, an articulated telescoping arm, and the clamp. The clamp and arm use small phillips head screws to keep them held in place. A small hobby screwdriver can be used to loosen and tighten those spots as needed.
Right out of the box, the differences with the pre-production version were apparent. While that had a pure, clear plastic, the retail stand has a very nice blue tint to the plastic. Each of the connection pieces and joints have an even more snug fit. The biggest change, however, are the connectors for each of the Stands pieces. The pre-production version used simply round pegs and holes. The final version changed those to hexagonal pegs and holes. This helps to make the arm and clamp a bit sturdier, with no fear of them twisting from a heavier figure being held in place. The plastic itself is fairly strong, and the clamp, though thin, had no issues holding any of the figures I tested in the gallery. Take a look at the AvP Grid Alien in the photos below. That’s a heavier figure compared to most of the Aliens, and the stand held that in place, using the suction cups on glass, with the clamp only around one of the hip connectors.
I may never full be into figure stands, but this is a solid offering from NECA. It offers plenty of display possibilities thanks to two very different bases. It has no problems holding heavier figures in the air, even when using the suction cups on a vertical glass plane.
