Mezco One:12 Armored Batman In-Hand Gallery

Mezco’s One:12 Collective line came on the scene in 2014 – high end 6 Inch figures with soft goods, tons of articulation, detailed sculpting and lots of accessories in a top of the line presentation. It spans multiple licenses and is currently available for Marvel, DC, Star Trek and more. One figure that caught my eye on first sight was the Batman Vs. Superman Armored Batman. It had an immediate perfect stance and if executed well, would be my alpha Armored Bats. He is a convention exclusive available only through Mezco, first order-able in the summer of 2016 (currently sold out). Well he’s shipping now from Mezco Toyz and we have our copy in hand. Damn. Near. Perfect. I’ve handled One:12 figs before but haven’t been into the lines they came from personally. Even the first one, TDK Batman, was one of the few versions of Batman I am not really into. So this guy here is my first full jump into the line and I wasn’t disappointed. Good thing because he was one of my most anticipated figures of the year.

Armored Batman uses One:12 body mechanics – an articulated body frame with soft goods clothing on top. There is a layer of fabric here under the armor. It captures the movie’s ornate highly detailed material seen on all the characters, specifically Batman. Layered on top of that is the armor. It’s not removable as it’s been snapped or glued into permanency. The (plastic) armor features multiple layers of paint and weathering to give it that non-polished metal look and it’s well executed. The cape – that’s my only sticking point. It’s a thicker more basic fabric, and a bit firm so it’s hard to drape. It kinda flies outward in almost any position. Not sure if it’s representative of the movie but either going thinner or using a more flexible fabric would have been better IMO. The eyes light up, bright LEDs are present and can go on/off with a switch on the back of the helmet. Range of movement at the knees and elbows is a tad limited due to the armor, but that’s how he was in the movie as well so no complaints there. Accessories are plenty – we get a Kryptonite spear, grenade launcher / grenades, grappling hook with loaded and fired hooks, 4 sets of hands, cape posing extensions and a really solid base.

Overall he handles well, feels good in the hand, and looks menacing in almost any pose you put him in. 10/10.
