Earlier this year, NECA released the first assortment of Ash vs Evil Dead TV Series figures. The original wave included Hero Ash, Value Stop Ash and the demon Eligos and were released just in time for the second season of the TV series on Starz. Soon after the figures were originally revealed, NECA gave fans a look at a supplemental 3-pack that would be hitting stores this year. The Bloody Ash vs Demon Spawn 3-Pack includes a blood splattered version of Ash Williams as well as two of Ruby’s Demon Spawn children. These figures were released directly from NECA a couple of weeks ago, and should be hitting stores very soon.
NECA sent along the set for us to check out. We have over 65 high resolution photos to see. You can view them as well as our review after the jump.

Overall
The Bloody Ash vs Demon Spawn Set comes in a great looking, collector friendly, window box. The packaging is almost completely blood red, with a few photos of the characters on the front. The back of the box has a small gallery of the included figures and a bit of info o nthe show. There is also a small check list for Series 1. Inside the box, a cardboard diorama backdrop is included, featuring the cabin set used in NECA’s photo shoot. The figure sit on a plastic tray, each held in with one twist tie. It’s an eye-catching display, but this is a set that looks even better opened.
Ash includes a chainsaw, a mechanical hand, the modular arm piece and a shotgun. The Demon Spawn needed no additional accessories, as they featured none in the show. Ash used the same sculpt featured in the Series 1 Hero Ash release. The head sculpt, however, is the standard one that was included with Value Stop Ash. As with the Series 1 release, the overall sculpt here is fantastic. The double jointed elbows allow for some fantastic poses with the shotgun and/or the chainsaw. It bears a great resemblance to Bruce Campbell’s look in the show. The bloody paint application is handled well. They adjusted the main color of his blue shirt to make it appear as if it’s blood soaked, and not just paint apps over a dry shirt. The head sculpt is still one of the best we’ve ever seen from NECA. The paint apps there are also handled well, even making it look like blood was wiped away from the eyes. For those that want a different head, you can swap it out with one of the four included with the Series 1 Ash figures. The chainsaw and mechanical hand swap out easily enough. the shotgun can be placed in a back holster as well. Joints were all nice and tight. The shoulders on this sample were a little over tight, but moved fine once loosened with a bit of heat.
The Demon Spawn are very interesting. They use the “child” Mego body that NECA has used on characters like Home Alone’s Kevin and the Friday the 13th child Jason Voorhees. Instead of cloth outfits, they simply added a vinyl version of the cloth diapers the Demon Spawn were wearing in the show. The 5.5″ tall bodies work effectively here and give these figures a great amount of articulation. These included double jointed knees and elbows for excellent dynamic poses. The head sculpts are different for both figures, and they’re as creepy looking as you would hope for. The eye sockets are completely hollow, which was a nice touch. they are covered, from head-to-toe, in a thick black and green paint, just as they were in the show. They were then covered in a clear coat to give them a fun, slimy appearance. The Demon Spawn make the set a must buy for fans of the show. I do wish there was an option to buy them without Ash, as I think fans would love to have multiples to form a small Demon Spawn army.
Fans looking to get as many of the unique looks for Ash from the show will be pleased with this release. The Demon Spawn, though, are the real stars here. It makes for a fun set of figures, allowing you to create some of the scenes from the Season 1 finale. The already excellent sculpt of Ash is complimented well with the use of the Mego child body for the Demon Spawn. Great paint apps and a nice overall presentation make this a nice stocking stuffer for horror fans this holiday season. You can see some select photos below, with 65+ in the full gallery below that.
