Kidrobot Madballs Horn Head and Bot Head 6-Inch Medium Figures – Toyark Photo Shoot

By Joe Moore on February 9, 2017 at 12:03 pm under General Toy News, Random Photo Shoot

When Kidrobot announced that they would be producing new Madballs, we had no idea what we were in for. As new items were revealed, we saw that they were making a little something for everyone. They are producing Madballs in 4″ standard releases, small blind box releases, even smaller keychains and some larger 6″ vinyl art figure. We’ll be photographing and reviewing all of these items. Today we’re sharing our own gallery and review of the Madballs 6″ Medium Figures. Toyark sponsor Entertainment Earth sent these over for us to check out. We have over 40 high resolution photos and a review. You can see them by reading on.

Madballs Horn Head and Bot Head 6-Inch Medium Figures by Kidrobot

Pros

  • Way larger then I expected
  • Excellent sculpting
  • Colorful and appropriately gross looking
  • Stands included

Cons

  • Price seems a bit high

Overall
These two Madballs each come packaged in beautiful collector friendly window boxes. Kidrobot went for pure vinyl art packaging with these. The box is covered in artwork that resembles the figure stands that are included. There is art of the character o nthe sides and the back shows art for the other 6″ Madball that’s available. Inside, the Madballs sit in a plastic clamshell that allows you to easily place them back in for storage or display.

Each one is made of vinyl, and have a nice bit of weight to them. Included are a redesign of the classic Horn Head and an all-new design named Bot Head. The Bot Head Madball is based on the Kidrobot logo. Sculpted details is excellent and the designs for both are fun and a great call back to the original style of the 80’s. The paint on the Madballs is also handled well. Detail lines are clean, with no noticeable paint bleed. There’s a slight dark wash over each one, which adds a grittier look to them. The stands are gross looking in a good way. They look like splashing vomit, complete with bugs and severed fingers. I can see fans not being into these due to the price. At $50 each, it’s a bit steep. Kidrobot is, however, releasing standard sized 4″ foam versions that are only $10 each. Bot Head hasn’t been revealed in that size at this time.

As a big fan of the original Madballs line, I’m pleasantly surprised by how much I liked these. They look great in hand. If the price is too steep, then check out the 4″ versions for sure. The design for Horn Head looks to be identical, and it will be in scale with most of the other Madballs products available. Check out some highlight photos below and the full gallery after that.

The backdrop used is by Extreme Sets, check them out and grab your own!
