The new Alien and Predator Hero Cofigurine collection is coming soon from Eaglemoss. These 1/16 scale statues feature iconic characters from the films in the individual franchises, as well as the Alien vs Predator films. Eaglemoss sent along some of the statues for us to check out. Alien & Predator Official Figurine Collection
Pros

- Look and feel like nice large Chess pieces

Overall
Each of the mini statues comes packaged in a collector friendly window box. The oversized boxes allow for the statue to be fully showcased on store shelves. Each box has a design theme based around the specific character, with photos, previews of other characters and mini-bios. The statues themselves sit on secure plastic trays. A few have additional twist ties holding them in. You can easily place these back in the boxes for storage if needed.
Once opened, each statue is immediately ready for display. No assembly is required. The pieces immediately felt like large chess or collectibles game pieces thanks to their dynamic poses and consistent hexagon bases. From a distance, the statues look pretty good as they stand between 4 or 7.5″ tall depending on pose. Sculpted detail is about on par with a retail release 4″ figure. There’s a ton of paint on just about all of the statues as well. The Alien Xeomorphs especially feature some nice subtle transitions in the colors. But all of them have multiple layered washes to add depth to the sculpting. The Nostromo suit on Dallas benefits from these washes and finer detailed painting. The helmet and shoulder pads get a nice aged copper look to them, with hints of a metallic green patina.
The original prototypes showcased detailed paint apps and sharply sculpted details on the human and Predator faces. The production versions, however, don’t hold up as well. The paint is more cartoon-ish and lacking the precision seen in their official product photos. Also, mainly on Hicks and the Big Chap, there appear to be rough 3D printing style grid lines throughout the head sculpts. The sculpts seem to have less definition than what was shown in official photos and at the shows. This is most noticeable in the Jungle Hunter Predator head sculpt, who now features duller, rounded edges on his mandibles, as opposed to the sharper edges seen in their promo images. These flaws are more amplified in the photos, as you’re looking at them the details at double and triple the size of the actual statues.
At about $30 each, these will only be for Eaglemoss fans and collectors looking to add variety to their Aliens and Predator displays. These characters are available as fully featured action figures from other companies at roughly the same cost. From a little distance, they don’t look bad, but up close the flaws appear a little more noticeable. You an check out some of the highlight photos below and the full gallery after that.
