Extreme Sets make pop up dioramas for use with 6 and 7 inch action figures, and they’ve recently released their second wave of Multiverse (non-wrestling) environments. Today we are going to start our look at the wave which includes The Building, Subway Terminal, Control Center, and Abandoned House. The Building is today’s gallery, and marks the first Multiverse offering that differs from the standard 6 panel setup. For this set, we get 4 2-story-tall panels, a rooftop, and doorway extra. Overall Thoughts
Wow. So, the previous round was big because they wrapped around, or allowed for a 10 foot wide backdrop on a shelf. The Building is huge because it’s TALL. We are at 2 feet plus with this thing, at 20 inches wide (per panel). It can wrap around into a cube and form a full building. Or, you can panel it out to use as a 2-story alley way or street.
In my previous review, I mentioned that one of the main things I’d like to see was a 2 story tall offering, because when shooting from ground level the angles often show the backdrop ending. Well, this perfectly addresses that. You can shoot up at the figures and the entire background should be building. And that’s awesome.
While the building form is cool, I preferred using it as an alleyway, unfolded. The building may be good in the future as a backdrop of a backdrop, for use with their upcoming smaller 1 story building and the Deranged alleyway. It can tower above both in the far back. For now, I’m happy just positioning 2/3 panels at a time.
The roof is tricky to get together and tight. I put mine together and shot before seeing the below videos. It is possible to get it tight and sharp, so watch those before you put yours together for the first time, it will help for sure. They also give you a sense of how big this thing is, so worth a watch.
Bottom line, another awesome piece. These things have really sparked my photography up a bit, it’s more fun shooting and playing with light in the environments these create. And when not in use for Photography, I’ve got a couple panels set up on my shelves as themed backdrops. So it’s win win.
