Fans of NECA products who ordered this months Loot Crate DX box got a major surprise. There were two exclusive figures inside the box. Along with the normal assortment of Loot Crate items they included an exclusive Glow in the Dark Reactor Godzilla and a 3-month early version of the Jungle Demon Predator. We’re bringing you full galleries of both figures, starting with the highly anticipated Jungle Demon Predator!
The Jungle Demon Predator is a repaint of the upcoming Ultimate Jungle Hunter Predator, and is being released for the Predator 30th Anniversary this Summer. The figure is cast in clear plastic, with a partially painted jungle deco and glowing yellow eyes. The figure commemorates the first time the Predator is spotted by Mac. The Jungle Demon Predator was a major surprise addition to the Loot Crate DX box for March 2017. While I haven’t been able to get real clarification, there doesn’t appear to be any major differences between this and the version that’s being solicited for release this Summer. As best I can tell, this is just an early version of the figure and the “Predator” logo on the box is red foil. The figure is packaged in a collector friendly window box (much like their Rocky anniversary figures). The figure sits in a plastic tray and includes a removable shoulder plasmacaster.
This figure is cast in clear plastic and features a half cloaked paint deco, to show the jungle through the figure. They eyes have a yellow faux glowing effect to them.The remainder of the paint features assorted shades of greens and yellows slowly fading in and out of visibility throughout the figure. The clear plastic looks to be handled very well here. There were no stress marks and the plastic quality itself feels durable and (thankfully) not brittle. Joints are surprisingly tight throughout the figure, and the new articulation points, such as the double jointed elbows and knees, are welcome additions allowing for a dynamic range of poses. the added articulation combined with the clear plastic seem to have one small side effect. On the left arm, there are two wires that connect to the armor on the figure. Those don’t seem to want to hold in place and pop out as I moved the arm about. Thankfully they could easily be placed back into the peg holes without any trouble.
The figure itself is a call back to the scene in the original Predator, where Mac first encounters the Hunter and the team begins to realize that what they’re fighting is not human. The Jungle Demon figure is a great homage to the scene, and looks great if you have your own jungle dio pieces. The clear plastic and paint mix looks stunning in hand and is going to make a lot of Predator fans happy. Look for this to hit store shelves, along with the rest of the Predator 30th Anniversary assortment, this Summer. You can see a few highlight photos below and the full gallery after that.
