Cast in a specially formulated metallic resin and hand-painted to capture every detail from bony-like tail coiled underneath the body to bony ridges running along the Xenomorph’s skull

Overall
This statue comes in a nice, and quite large, windowless box. It’s similar in style to their smaller figurine packaging. Each side of the box has a photo of the Alien statue. The sides also feature a bio for the Xenomorph. Inside the box, the statue is packed carefully in a dense styrofoam clamshell tray. No assembly is required and the statue is ready for display as soon as it’s removed from the box. Also included is a certificate and brochure on their other Alien and Predator collectibles.
When I initially reviewed the 1/16 scale Aliens figurines, I appreciated what they were going for, but had my own issues with the final product. Just about every one of those complaints has been addressed with this larger version. For starters, the metallic resin they cast this statue in has great look to it. It’s also quite heavy, making it feel like a very high end collectible. The sculpt here is very sleek and nicely detailed, with different texturing techniques used throughout. It’s based more on the original promotional art, which is smoother looking and less texture than the costume from the film. While the main alien has an ever so fine texture to it, the dome is far smoother, while the base does a great job or portraying the metal grates of the Nostromo ship flooring. The paint work here is subtle but effective, with some really soft brushwork throughout. There’s definitely a darker paint wash over the whole statue, but it’s the metallic drybrush work that really pops here. With softer silvers and bronze colors used, it adds some additional depth and dimension to the sculpt. The dome features some especially impressive paint work. Since the dome is solid, they used a feathered airbrush style technique to portray the skull underneath.
If anything, my only nitpick is Brett’s hat on the base. The blue used is noticeably lighter than the hat in the film. Other than that, I’m quite pleased with this statue. It looks really nice in hand, is larger without taking up too much space, and has a nice weight to it. Look for it to be available June 1st.
