DC Icons Rebirth Batman Photo Review

DC Icons is winding down, slow fading out as we wait for DC Essentials to kick off next year. Part of these (most likely) final waves are re-releases of Rebirth Batman and Superman which originally dropped in the 7 pack earlier in the year. Last month we got Rebirth Damian and Jon Kent, the Super Sons, so getting fans their dads in single packs was a good move. Batman gets beefed up this go around, much taller and bulkier than the first DC Icons Batman was. He stands toe to toe with S.H. Figuarts style Batmen, putting him closer to a “small 6 inch” scale. All in all it’s a sharp piece, and can easily slide into a Bat-shelf without looking out of place. Let’s take a closer look after the break courtesy of Entertainment Earth!

Overall Thoughts

A nice piece head to toe. Icons overall have some issues, but these later figures were addressing things. They got taller, so that’s a plus. Articulation is there, but still limited in actual range. The long legs with weak knees can make straight up stances a pain, but it’s doable with some effort. Upper body joints are tight, so torso rotation and shoulder movement need pressure and care. If your main goal is to give him a power stance on a shelf though, he’s great. Sharp sculpt and well applied paint. The cape is one of the best molded ones in a while, it rests on his shoulders and wraps down well. Gets that resting look while still allowing arm movement. He does pair perfectly with the Icons Rebirth Damian Wayne Robin, and they are now chilling on the shelf together here. Bottom line, Batfans won’t be disappointed, but frugal collectors should wait for Essentials next year.
