The Walking Dead TV Series introduced us to Dwight a full season before we were properly introduced to Negan and the Saviors. When he originally debuted, he was simply called “D” by his companions, and he had yet to get the horrific scar that he is known for. As Daryl tried to recruit him to join Rick’s group, Dwight turns on him and steals his bike and crossbow, hoping to offer it as an apology to Negan for his attempted escape. Dwight has gone on to become a fairly complex character, caught between his desire to keep himself and his wife alive and his fear of Negan’s wrath. Dwight would like nothing more than to see Negan killed, going so far as to act as a spy for Rick and his growing group of survivors as they look to take Negan down. As mentioned, Dwight is known for a massive burn along the left side of his face. It given to him by Negan as punishment for trying to escape the Saviors.
McFarlane Toys has released a 7″ scale figure based on Dwight from the show. The figure includes Daryl’s Crowssbow, a pistol and a figure stand. They have sent the figure along for us to check out. After the jump you can find my thoughts on the figure and a full gallery. Read on to check them out.

Overall
Dwight is part of the McFarlane Toys Color Tops line and is packaged in a collector friendly window box. The design mirrors that of the previous Walking Dead releases. The back has a simple design featuring a few images of Dwight.The figure sits on a plastic tray, held in by a single twist tie. Dwight includes a figure stand with the Walking Dead logo on it, Daryl’s crossbow and a pistol.
For the most part, Dwight looks good. The figure sculpt, as usual, is really strong. The head sculpt has a decent likeness to actor Austin Amelio. If anything, the scar effect looks more prominent here compared to the show, which I actually prefer. It feels more in line with his comic counterpart, who has a much more gruesome burn. There’s some nice fine details when looking over the sculpt, with great attention to detail in the sculpted fabric elements. The jacket that Dwight is wearing is cast in pretty much the same hard plastic as the rest of the figure. Most times, items like that will be cast in a sifter plastic to allow better range of motion. Here, it hinders the waist articulation a bit. Articulation, overall, could use some work. It takes some work to get Dwight to hold the crossbow properly. The hips are the same design as Negan’s hips, featuring a double ball jointed hip connection. While an improvement over early Color Tops releases, they don’t offer the range of motion that will be available on upcoming McFarlane figures (such as Star Trek and Stranger Things). You can still get some ok poses out of the available articulation, but it’s not going to satisfy those looking for dynamic range of motion. The paint apps are, for the most part, pretty strong. There’s some nice work on the entire outfit, with nicely done transitions in color on the jacket and pants. The head sculpt isn’t quite as strongly painted, and the eyes are slightly misaligned. It’s not as bad as it sounds, but worth mentioning so you an check before buying.
If you’re collecting the Color Tops Walking Dead figures, then you know what to expect from Dwight. A very solid sculpt with ok, but not great articulation. Dwight is available in stores now. Check out some select photos below and the the full gallery after that.
